The buds will get bigger, and and longer, and fatter. Trichomes will appear on the buds and small bud leaves. Your whole neighborhood will start to smell light a cheap whorehouse. Then Miss Pimpleton, your nosy spinster neighbor will start poking around to see what's up. One day she'll arrive at your door with a rhubarb pie and try to look over your shoulder to see what she can see. You, of course, will thank her and send her on her way with NO information. The curiosity will be killing her. Are you raising skunks? Is there a dead body under you patio? When she can stand it no longer she'll call the police who will completely ignore her because they know she's a real pain in the ass who's always calling the police about nothing. By this time you'll have harvested, trimmed and cured your crop. You'll sit in your easy chair, light up a bowl, and enjoy the fruits of your labors.
That's the normal life cycle of the cannabis plant.

Sorry about getting off topic, these scenes pop into my head and I can't resist.
To answer some of your questions:
Yes, your plants are flowering.
You should flush occasionally with 3x the volume of your containers to remove salts and adjust ph.
You need 12 hours of COMPLETE darkness for flowering, sounds like you already have that.
You should also be using flowering nutrients now.
Hope this helps.
