There was a time when it was common practice to take dirt weed, put in plastic then tin foil and bury it until it molded........and that piece of advice is still on a website today, seriously, I ran across it. We now know it's not a good idea......hell smoking anything is bad for you...why make it worse.... it probably isn't as bad for you as the hype suggests, unless you're ashmatic(sp?) or already weakened....but it definitely isn't good for you.....and it tastes like shit. " It's Labrador, Man." I would nuke it for 30 secs to kill the mold then make ice hash out of it......... I don't have bubble bags yet, so I do ice water extraction from my trim and I'm thinking the spores might float with the rest of the throw away material.....worst that happens is you get all done, take a hit and it's awful so you throw it out......best is you get a g or two of really nice hash......
Never had the powdery mildew, but I did get bud rot once so I feel your pain........ I just tossed the batch...but it wasn't me going without until the next batch was ready....lol I didn't do the ice hash thing back then so I can't tell you if the funk would float, sorry....
