making hash into oil, quick question

so the other night i got 5 grams of very good, potent hash. i had initially intended on turning some herb into oil for 420, but when i got offered some hash by a good friend i grabbed some thinking i could just skip the herb extracted oil and just use the hash and make into iso oil. ive already had it ground up as much as i could and its been sitting in the freezer along with some iso, why i put them in the freezer being its hash and not herb, idk, natural reaction i guess, just going through the steps like i normally would. after thinking about it, although it smokes clean and burns nice, great bubble. i figured id just leave it there just in case a little chlorophyl made it into this guys stuff during their process. i had figured id just do quick washes. but then again thinking, why not soak it for say 5-10 min with some agitation then go through the normal steps. ive got experience in making iso oil and bho but ive never used just hash. my whole reason for wanting to turn it into oil, is because i have a new dome and nail for one of new tubes, and although this stuff smokes nice with the nail, id rather have some good clean oil. and im not concerned about what yeild i get back, quality over quantity. what would you do? soak it? or rinse it?

or i could even use a smaller mason jar and alter the cap a little and spary some tane in there until i got about a quarter jar of liquid tane in it then do a quick soak and wash in that and then use the lid ring with some filters to filter it out into my dish.

your thoughts?

No compelling reason not to soak kif, instead of just rinse. If you are going to try a butane soak, consider using a stainless thermos instead of a jar and extend your soak time.

i tested it with 2 and half grams. i did a couple of 5 minute rinses into the main dish and tossed that on my double broiler, then i did 2 more additional 10-15 min iso soaks and poured those into my second dish, filtered of course through 2 coffee filters, which seemed to last a lifetime. i looked at the liquid i was pouring off and it a beautiful honey colored, very light but awesome. i evaporated up until theyre was just enough liquid in the dish to kinda swirl around and let it finsih evaporating naturally, one thing i learned was to use about 10 drops of water once you begin the evape so you odnt risk buring it when evaping, but i skipped that considering i was using only 91 iso. i had my double broiler set with a candy thermoter in the water at around 130ish. after i finished the purge outside, i grabbed my hotplate and dishes and headed inside, i turned my hotplate on to the warm setting and began to scrape my dish bringing its contents the center with a sterile razor blade and gloves on. before i began this entire process, i wiped down everything with alcohol, and used gloves while handlin anything. after i got my oil to the center of my dish, the hot plate was warm enough for me to heat the oil, i placed it on the hotplate with a pad between my dish and hotplate surface and started moving it around with a tool, smearing it around then scraping it back up. i repeated this for about 5 min then scooped up what i had finally and put into my container. i did not whip it thoe. what i was left with was nice honey oil, almost to fell melt. very clean and beautiful. when it was all said and done i think i got somewhere around.8 to a gram back. i took what was left and tossed that along with another gram and half into a jar with iso and into a dark warm place for the night to let that soak and then im gonna do that today too. i wish i had a camera to take pics of the process and before and after product, but that got stolen. i did do this differnt than i normally would with herb, normally i would do a filter to another jar, then to freezer for 45 min to an hour, then another filter into my dish then to my double broiler. but i was dead tired last night and although working indoors at my buddys shop, i was still kinda chilly and just wanted to get something of consumer quality for today, turned out much better than even i was anticipating. ive been pondering picking up 3 more grams of this hash and doing the butane soak method as well to compare the qualitys and yeilds. i might have to see if i can borrow a camera for the day.

happy 420 guys

ok so when I spray my butane through my extractor, it doesnt come out for a few seconds. I spray until it just starts to come out of the extractor, then flip it upside down and let it it for a little bit, letting that butane really soak into the weed and do its thing. then I continue to spray. is that not the same as soaking it in a thermos??

You can soak for a couple of hours in a thermos.
