Make sure the cap is on and you should be good.
Ive heard of letting them sit a day before pressure cooking so the inside of the substrate has time to soak water.
I wouldn't let them sit longer than 12 hrs without pcing the jars. If they go longer its a higher chance of contam! Good luck with your cakes...I remember them good ol days!
im pressurizing baby, i was worried more about the water content in the jar i dont want it to dry out or get the dry verm top part wet any ideas about this totally cool i may just do this now fuck work ill rage it
and with the tape on the lid, that gets pressure cooked then do you lift it for the injection or poke through it? also when the jars are sitting are the holes taped off then?
You needn't worry about contamination of uncooked medium before you sterilize, in fact, waiting 12 to 24 hours is a good thing as the endospores will have germinated making them far easier to kill. Of course you don't need the tape and the holes and the flour and all of that if you have a pressure cooker - but do what you like.
i have the jars sitting in a plastic tote box thing, sterilized, holes in the lid covered in foil but un taped, with a reptile heat pad in the tote. does this sound ok for my knocked up jars?

No. The foil is not enough of a seal to prevent possible cross contamination by a wild yeast or mold. Tape. Best to pressure cook and leave cooker sealed overnight to cool. Then work it when you aren't tired.
As a pressure cooker cools it draws contaminated air into the chamber. If you intend to let your cooker cool, cover the intake ports with cloth or cloth soaked in some sort of disinfectant.
i'm not saying anyone is wrong as everyone has their own successful ways but here was my quick process for brf. I always had problems with moister getting in my jars while pcing so I would tape the holes, then tin foil the lids, then electrical tape the foil tight around the jars. After done pcing pull them out hot and let them cool on the counter. After cooled off pull off tape. Both off the holes and off the foil. Replace the foil loosely around lids and put in paper bag and set inside a plastic tote. I have left jars in the pc to cool and have had success. I did remember having 50-50 contam for a long time and then switched to rye which was way easier. Good luck. Its an addictive hobby!
