First time mainlining. It's looking awesome and strong. Just wondering if I cut the fan leaves off and the new growth that's right in the middle of the picture with the close up. The second pic is just to give an idea what the whole thing looks like

One of the things I don't like about mainlining, and there are a few, is that fans are lost due to trimming, and that is a bad thing. It might not look as good as a trimmed out plant, but they are needed. That is one thing I don't like, the defoliation part. Try to save as many leaves as possible, and fuck how it looks. Another thing I don't like is the time it takes to finish, and it is a long time due to all the trimming, so be prepared for a wait until you can harvest. Good luck.

just tuck or tie those out of the way, I used to take a small steel shot style fishing weight and loop a bit of fishing line over the leaf stem to hold it down until the vertical growth at the nodes was able to climb above it, then id cut the loop and the leaf would make its way back up. Start with the tiny shot and move up, hang the loop at the base of the leaflets

I'm thinking about getting rid of all the new growth and keeping the fans

I kept all the fan leaves. And just removed growth nodes from everything except where I want it to mainline from. I don't understand why people chop fan leaves off when mainlining.
