Nice idea on the fan but it's too far from the house to run a cord. I'll try and get out there each morning and shake any excess dew off. I may see about some sort of cordless blower, too.

I'll just have to play it by ear as far as harvesting and weather. Probably if I had it to do over again I might not have gone the Greenpoint route, but I didn't really know much when I ordered those seeds in April and was relying on their advice. Who knows, I might get lucky with the weather--we've definitely had some very warm falls in recent years and that certainly seems to be the long-term trend. But we could also get an early blizzard or a hurricane.

I do have a "backup" Orange Blossom Special in a 7g fabric pot that could be moved into the shed if needed later this fall. Worst case scenario, maybe that's all I get to harvest. But the Cherry Wine and Tomahawk seem to be moving along so maybe they'll finish sometime in October. It's the Chinook Haze and Copper Chem that seems to be a long shot at this point.

You know, just a few years ago I did a big fall lawn overhaul (organic compost topdressing, some amendments, overseeding in September) and I remember being amazed that the grass was still green and growing well into November. Who knows, I may get lucky this fall...

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement everyone. Will keep you posted on progress.

Blower works great outdoors
I need to find a cordless model that doesn't make a big racket.

Was also thinking I should mow all vegetation in roughly 10 foot perimeter around the garden--that should help keep the relative humidity down a bit. Right now it's filled with saplings and various tall weeds, all of which stay sopping wet after rain or heavy dew.

Hey i am also in knox county and been following your feed i am seeing this blackening of the buds in my plants and also others all across the state. Does anyone know what it is? Ive been told new strain of mold? Ive noticed it across multipe strains in differdnt locations. I can get better pics tomorrow. Thanks

Quick question on applying Bt: I re-read the literature that came with the product (DiPel DF Bt) and it recommends adding a "sticker-spreader" to the solution.

Would Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile soap work? I know this is safe for the plants as I've used it before (1/2t/gallon) to emulsify neem oil and it's supposed to be an excellent surfactant as well as repelling various insects. Not sure if it qualifies as a "sticker-spreader" though. Anybody have experience with it?

I've been waiting several days for the afternoon showers to pass before doing my second Bt application (been ten days now). We had a quick shower early evening, I checked the radar, all clear, so I go out to spray and halfway through it starts pouring rain again. Ugh! It was just for a couple minutes though, so I waited for it to pass and sprayed another coat on all the top surfaces. I need a ladder now to reach the tallest branches on these beasts!

Have only seen 1 tiny caterpillar since the first spray, am hopeful I steer clear of them all fall. Will keep spraying weekly.

Should I stick with Bt or rotate Spinosad? I hear different things...

Not sure what it is, I have a little bit on the very tip of one branch on my Tomahawk. This has come up before in other threads, others have seen it, I don't think it's a huge threat to your harvest. Not mold like botrytis. But keep an eye on it.

If you dont have mites or leafhoppers i would stick with just BT

Week 19 Progress Report: 3 of the plants appear to be in full-on flower mode now (Tomahawk, Cherry Wine, Orange Blossom Special) 2 are still stretching like crazy (Chinook Haze), and the Copper Chem seems to be transitioning.

The Chinooks grew another foot this week (tallest is 9'3"!), the Copper Chem put on 9 inches, while the others have eased up quite a bit on the vertical growth.

Any way to "encourage" the Chinooks to start flowering, other than light dep? Extra-heavy dose of P and K? I'm seriously worried about harvest time.

Is it possible to shorten the flowering time? Or is it like fine wine...just gotta be patient?

In any case everything is looking really healthy, no sign of caterpillars or other pests (knock on wood), so overall I'm pleased with how things are going. Nights have cooled down noticeably which is nice. Getting some heavier morning dew now--guess I'll need to dry things off in the morning pretty soon.

Here's the garden this morning:

Congrats on making it this far and they look wonderful! I wouldn't mess with giving them extra this or that to induce anything. Sometimes giving too many nutrients of one thing or another can cause lock out of something else. It's a delicate balance.
My maverick from g.p. is in full swing... my jelly pies are the second to last in the garden to be the slowest. It will happen just be patient. I know the struggle is real.

Thanks GG. I'll just relax and trust Nature to do her thing. Glad to hear yours are coming along well.

According to GPS the Cherry Wine is 62-75 days. Guessing that will be the first to harvest, hopefully as you say before Columbus Day. Then I'm guessing the Tomahawk. If I can get those and maybe sneak the Orange Blossom Special in there too I'll be very happy and won't sweat it as much if the Chinook Haze and Copper Chem run into November.

Last year we got walloped by a couple Nor'easters the third week of October, not cold but heavy rain and wind. You never know, but in my experience here after Columbus Day is when the weather can get a little wild.

Does flowering time depend on weather? In other words, does lots of sun and warm days speed up the time it takes for the buds to mature?

Had to get an OG in this year.
My 16 years of growing outside in Maine I have never grown into November.
Bud rot always gets me first. I get to the point of not wanting to risk the rest of the plant and chop.
I made it until Oct.21 last year and was happy with the results.

I like to have 20% amber trichs but thankfully I also like cloudy milky white trichs too!
Thanks for documenting your grow. I'm following closely. You too GG! Huge fan!

Just know you can't go by breeders times. And also know every pheno can be different.... like I have 2 lemon crash og from cannaventure and two incredible bulks gifted to me from a member in the forum. One of each is 2 weeks ahead of the other tho same feed and soil etc. Oh well is my thinking and I'm glad they won't come down all at once. You will soon enough find out what a pain in the ass harvest is and how time consuming lol. You will be beyond thankful that you won't have to pull all of them at once ;) I promise
