Main steam snapped in half

so i just got back from doing the weekly check up and one of my plants suffered major wind damage, main steam snapped complently off.... so i put the broken part back in the soil, will this start to grow again or is it a gonner

Depending on where it snapped (although I assume it's at the bottom) it may live. If it snapped above some growth it might just be severely stunted, but eventually start growing again.

i was about 3foot and snapped off about 1 ft up

thanks... and there was some growth below the break...

depending on how new the break is i believe i have researched that you can gently tape the branch together again. I am pretty sure actually, but sticking the broken branch in the dirt wont do a thing for the broken half, the rotted half will regenerate and stunt.
