hey guys, first time i made hash oil was a couple days ago.
heres what i did:
1.) used 1/8th of buds only (OD Cheese @ 17% thc from dispensary, was only $20)
2.) placed in dehydrator for 1 hr
3.) placed in ziplock then froze for 24 hrs.
4.) ground up buds in grinder then poured into mason jar
5.) poured acetone (yes, acetone, i know) into the mason jar and swirled it for 60 seconds. Note that i didn't shake, just very aggressively and smoothly swirled.
6.) poured it through a coffee filter on top of a strainer placed ontop of a pyrex dish
7.) let it sit outside for 24 hrs. to evaporate acetone
8.) placed dish in waterbath for 24 hrs. at controlled temp of 110 degrees (via my sous-vide supreme demi, hahhaa)
9.) scraped dish (i hated this part) with paint scraper for about 30-45 minutes and ended up with .6 grams of golden powder (consistency of flour)
10.) poured all the scraped hash powder into a vial and did a quick double boil over boiling water for about 10-20 seconds or until it looked like it formed a solid chunk.
11.) scraped it out and it harded immediately off the heat into these shiny candy like crystals
forgot to mention steps 4 through 7 need to be done outside for safety reasons. plus you need a mask of some type to avoid breathing the stuff and inhaling the crazy fumes. took about 3 days but the end product was the best hash i've ever had in my life. never been so high.
the golden powder initially looked nice, but when heated over the double boil it turned a dark amber color instantly. also the amount was reduced to about half of the powder. i also think the yield wasn't that much because not only was it my first time, not only was i only using just an 1/8th but also i didn't shake it like crazy or squeeze the buds or anything which probably would've ended up being more product but i read the longer it sits in the solvent, the lower the thc % percentages. so you wanna do it quick and now after smoking this hash i can see why. i used it in the cera and it blew me away. honestly tho i like using the health stone for this. didn't taste any harshness or residue from solvents but i think i will try isoprophyl next time just to see if it turns out different.
if you want to see my results i will post them later on. really interesting stuff. not sure if this would be called shatter or what i initally called it "hash rocks", lol.
