^^ That's just crazy talk... Never seen a bulb with that kind of output LMAO!
On avg. 400w hps run about 55,000 lumens and 400w mh run about 35,000 lumens.
The best bulb in my opinion, I'd suggest the 400w hortilux or digilux, depending on your ballast.

well right now i have 438 watts of cfl light and i was wondering if it would be beneficial to switch to mh/hps

how big of a space are u using it in. are they a bunch of spiral cfls? or are they a nice set of t5s or something? cfls are great in large numbers. i have about 350 watts worth of cfls in my 2x2 veg box. mixed spectrum 2/3rds are 65k temp and the othe 1/3 are 27k temps for a dual spectrum thing. promotes healthier and stronger growth ive noticed.

i have prrobly 19 bulbs and its overr thrree plants in scrrog and the space is 4 feet by 2 and a half box

hmm 19? how many watts are u rockin? are they small 13watts or r they bigger 26 or 30 watt ones? u gotta remember the bulb may be a 60watt replacement but its really only pumpin 26 watts out of it. i personally have 9 in my space cuz i accidently broke a few. but a few of them are larger wattage bulbs. i have a big 68 watt cfl in 65k and a big 54 watt in clf in 27k up top looking down with hoods. the rest are spaced all over the walls of the box. all in 30 watts in both spectrums 65k and 27k. the dual spectrum promotes stronger and faster growth. if i was going to go from 2x2 to a 2x4 space i would double the amount of wattage and bulbs i was using. also i would never flower with them. just veg.

haha no im far past the point of real vs equivlent watts stage of growing with cfls lol thats real watts i have mostly 23 and 26 watt bulbs with some 45 watts thrown in and yes i have a ratio of 1 to 4 mixed spectrum

sounds like u got the idea then. in all honesty i just put up a 2x4 tent and tossed a 400watt mh in it and i have a 150 hps that im also gonna toss in it. just got tired of dealing with the cfls to be honest but i used them and they relly do work. but u gotta get them really close to make them work bangin.
