LST looks ok for this newbie

I see new tops forming albeit small. But probably because this is sun grown . So in the pic taken 6/4/13 the top has started to over take everything again. She is getting tall. Should I keep pinning her down to make it lower than the bottom of the stem in the dirt? I mean is it really that much more beneficial. I hate domestic violence. Don't want to pin her down if it doesn't make a whole big difference.

(See the drawing )

This all sun grown. Maybe it doesn't matter huh?

From the angle of the pic, she doesn't look tall at all~

LST is beneficial if you know what your doing with it.. what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

you say sun growth, so are you out side? is this an out door plant?

why do you think you need to use the LST method on your plant?

2 reasons. Training to maintain height and since I am going with a 3 gallon geopot (for height concern) I want to maximize yield. I'm not looking for the holy grail of poundage. I'm hoping for at least an ounce .

Oh and yes outdoor plant.

Oh I see, may I ask why you are limiting height since its an outdoor plant?
A 3 gallon pot should be able to give you an ounce+

Oh its my first time growing and not sure how I feel about my plant getting up to high. I guess 5 foot would have been ok. But I want it a few feet under my fence line. Neighbors and all. I don't want them to freak out and think I'm some crazy .

I have two other plants as well. I'm going to top one and I guess leave one alone . See how high it really gets in a 3 gallon.

I was just wondering if I keep the top tied down for the duration of the plants life

Well if you want to stay on the safe side, LST would help ensure none of your plants will get past the 5ft barrier~ I'm thinking with the 3 gallon containers, you should be fine for height~

Ok. So LST is truly beneficial indoors where height is really a concern I'm getting. I would have been better off fimming and topping ?

This is all experimental at this point. Being new to growing. I'm going to top the girl later. And release the LST . I just now found out why people cut fan leaves. I never knew that.

rather use fimming as opposed to topping I would say hey, much less stressful to the plant and you get can 4 main stalks as opposed to 2.

How do you figure that FIM topping is less stress than regular topping? That just doesn't make any sense. LST (low stress training) is "low stress" but topping is a high stress training method, and that includes FIM topping.

i FIM'd, lollipopped, and just LST'd 2 pineapple chunk and 2 laughing buddah's yesterday. i also supercropped and LST'd 3 of my nl13/KKSC strain yesterday. each training tech was done 1 week apart to get the plant adjusted and trying not to stress them out too much.

topping or FIMing will help keep height down, and give you new colas up top. you go from 1 top cola to 4 colas. this helped me keep all 3 strains at the same height so when i flip (next week), its more manageable. lollipopping clears out all the undergrowth and allows for more/better light penetration. check out the link in my sig. the more intersting parts of the grow are twords the bottom of the page. the top is the slow growth from seed (boring).
