I used pipecleaners. I made a loop at one end that went around the branch I wanted to tie down and made a 90 degree bend at the other end that I taped to the deck with electrical tape.
Whatever you use make sure you attach it to the deck so that you don't have to unattach everything when you do a res change (or break branches if you forget to unattach). HTH
