LST for a large outdoor sativa?

With the purpose of maximising yield considering I have no height constraints

Should I LST my Sativa's?
If yes what shape is the best to aim for outdoor?
How many main colas should I expect/try to get?
Doesn't lst'ing increase risk of structural instability and snapping stems under weight of colas?
Has anyone tried scrogging outdoors at an angle to spread the budsites evenly regarding sunlight? It seems this would eliminate worries about snapping branches and reduce risk of eventual stormdamage too?

Thanks for any advice

For your first question...I am a indoor and outdoor grower and Ive watched a lot of my buddies harvest weed also, and Ive watched the difference between topping, LST and growing the plant up normal, and it is obvious to me that topping and LST are the only way to go, it always seem to harvest double than what you could get normally, its and awesome process and it works time and time again, so i say yes you should LST your sativas as far as knowing how many tops your gonna get no one will be able to know that answer it all depends on how you train your plant to grow (LST). But i do know it will be a huge bush, lol sativas get big to begin with. So its all up to you on how many tops you wanna have. Weed plants are very vigorous outdoors, as soon as you bend them plants there gonna grow right along with that bend you trained it to do, it will take that shape and be super strong so you don't have to worry about the colas being to heavy for branches. Ive never even heard over scrogging outdoors, but if you could set up a way to do it, it would be a great idea...but more regarding even sunlight not so much for the snapping of branches either from storm damage or buds getting too heavy. Id say your on the right track buddy. Keep asking questions pick everybody's brain here there are lots of smart people on this site. Good Luck with your sativas this year!!!

I will stick to lst as it seems that it can achieve the same results as topping/fimming without damaging the plant.

Can't wait to get started, crossed fingers for a good season.

LST is pretty much for indoor growing when artificial light is dependant on proximity to the plant. Natural sunlight penetrates much farther into the canopy, so lst is basically a lot of work for not much more yield. I top and supercrop my outdoor ladies, with great results.. I have lst'd outdoors, and no difference really.. The ONLY reason I would LST an outdoor sativa would be for concealment purposes.

Well it seems that lst'ing is definately better than no intervention at all (just for the sake for increasing budsites)

If indeed I can expect the same results with either method, lst'ing does appeal more to me as I don't like the idea of damaging the plant and braking it's growth rate with topping. As for supercropping I only have a vague idea of what it is, bruising the stem right? more info to process... will try to find a good thread on supercropping.

I guess I'll just have to experiment myself, the info on the net is so messy, it's hard to find decisive proof.

And yes for the sake of increasing bud sites LSTing used along with topping is the way to go its easy to grow a monster outdoors that way...and if you can find it here on one of the RIU threads Uncle Ben's Guide To Topping it is a very useful thread it was what got me into topping and i got to see first hand how beneficial it is...I swear by it, it was a thread when i was a member like 3 years ago so it might be difficult to find it is an awesome thread tho. Topping doesn't really damage the plant it just stuns it for a couple days while the hormones are rushing into the lower branches therefor making it a big bush. And bosweed ill get to your question later tonight im in sort of a hurry.
