Hi everybody @ roll it up~!

It's been a while since I've posted online. I had to share this grow with people, I'm super excited. :D

I'm going to grow out my last two dozen lowryder #2 seeds hydroponically in order to make a ton of seeds for the years to come. I love to grow outside as well as inside and I've found this strain to suit my needs perfectly.

Well, here's what I've got goin so far:
A 4x4x8 Hydrohut with two 2x4' ebb-n-flow trays.
A Hydrofarm Daystar AC reflector with flow vents.
A 600 watt lumatek digital ballast.
A 600 watt MH, and a 600 watt HPS.
One gallon of G.H. grow, bloom, and micro.
24 4"x4" grodan rokwool cubes.
A 120 CFM carbon filter.
An 85 CFM silent computer fan for in-line cooling (if it gets too hot).
An AC to DC power converter & wiring.
A 110 CFM silent computer fan for exhaust to my filter.
Some 6" ventilation tubing.

& the last of my remaining seeds

Today is technically day #2, Here are the photos so far:

Anyone done anything like this before? please feel free to comment, 'll definitely need input on some issues I'll have to face eventually...

Thanks! & Happy Growing!bongsmilie

Thanks Fyfe :joint:,
I'll take a couple photos tonight since a few are poppin their heads up out of the rockwool. After that I'll probably post photos every week while I change the water and clean.
+ rep for the 1st post!

Thanks meangreen, I'll check out your grow later this evening unfortunately I've got some work I need to finish up before tho. & thanks for postin.

Update:

Yesterday was day #3 and I cleaned and calibrated my pH and EC meters. the pH was 5.9 and the ppm was 310.

Today is day #4 and the pH dropped to 5.5, if it remains the same (or less) tomorrow I will add some pH up to the reservoir. The ppm today is at 330. The high temp in the tent was 80*f and the low was 59*f. the RH maxed at 40% and the min was 25%.

I've also tied a thin climbing rope from the top of the drainage pipe into the reservoir. The water from the flood table falling the 18" into the reservoir seemed too loud to me, so now it follows the thread down and makes a lot less noise. There are 4 seedlings starting to show their first true set of leaves.

That's it for today! & again, I'll post pics up on day #7.

:peace:

So I've got one trifloriate(?) seedling  , ie it has 3 leaves and 3 bud sites at each node instead of the regular two. I know that my original plan was to grow all 20+ plants out to get a good mix of genes and possibly thousands of seeds; but I've decided to only grow out a few plants for seed and grow the rest for bud. I've decided to breed the trifloriate plant with one or two of the other strongest lowryder #2's so that I can still get a decent number of seeds and also so that I can maintain the desired phenotype of the plant being trifoliate. I've still got a couple of weeks before all my plants are sexed (including the trifoliate) so I'm going to use this time to construct a ghetto box to breed in.

The plan for the prototype-ghetto breeding box:
- 2'x2'x3.5' box made from cheap scraps of plywood and some screws and bolts.
-2 to 4, 42 watt CFL's
(these could actually keep the temperature high enough in my shed)
-A manual or passive hydroponic set up for the 4" rokwool cubes the plants will be in

Anyone have any tips or suggestions to keep the trifloriate plant and its mate alive? The winter can be cold around here and I'd like to use the lights to keep the plants warm. I don't think ventilation will be necessary.

any Help??

Temps will prob correct themselves with lights on mate, i got mine to sit nicely at 25c with the lights on, its when they go off its a prob, the only way of sorting it would be to get a thermostat heater me thinks

where's these pics we been promised anyway

Here's the early hours of day #8! sorry for the delay I've been watching HBO on the tele...

I've got my lights on 24/7 at the moment and I still have temp sways at night... it's always around 80 for the high and 58 or 60 for the low. I've taken the liberty of ordering a small "energy saving" digital space heater. I guess it kicks on only when it gets below a certain temp so its not always running. For $50 total with shipping and handling that doesn't seem soo bad.
I'm also running pure water to the plants for a day because a lot of them are still very small, I'll add the nutes back into the fresh reservoir when I wake... & the pH is sitting at 5.9 right now.

hope everyone enjoys! time to drift away for 8 hours.... bongsmilie &....

oh and let me know if you all want photos more often... they're pretty boring right now though.

i hope it turns out female for you, looking good btw,

is that day 8 from reaching the surface or day 8 from planting seeds?

keep up the good work.

Update for day #9:

Their leaves are drooping. Other than that they all look fine, they're dark green and starting their second true set of leaves. Hopefully they will have some sets of 3-pronged leaves by the weekend.
I think that the reason they are drooping is because I've been watering them too frequently. I changed the flooding schedule to 10am, 4pm, & 1130pm instead of 4am,10am,4pm,10pm. I also added about 50ml of H2O2 to the reservoir of 16 gallons, hopefully this will plants enough oxygen.

I've also added nutrients today. 20ml of GH Grow, Bloom, Micro, Superthrive, and liquid karma. Day's #7&8 I have have just been flooding with water.

I think the reason that they are not growing as fast as I'd like is because of the low temperature that the tent gets to every night . The high is still 80f and the low has been dipping to 57f. As I said earlier, I have ordered a digital "energy-saving" space heater, it will allow me to regulate the room temperatures much better.

That's it. :peace:

Well its early morning of day #10!
I added another 100ml of h2o2 to the 16 gal reservoir to bring the total up to 150ml. I rearranged the seedlings that have popped up to be directly under the 600watt MH. The ppm and pH are sitting at about the same level.
I hope this heater gets here before the first snow, this cold is really slowing down their growth, the low got to 57 in the hut this morning

I'm gonna hit the slopes for the first time tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! I've also been pondering the idea of buying a co2 injection system instead of a new snowboard. I've got my old-ass-9+year-old board and also a friends that I can use.
I work hard for my spending money and what i'm interested in right now is some fine smoke come midwinter, the new board can wait(again). I think that i will soon purchase a 20gal co2 tank(@ a local store) and a co2 regulator from hydrofarm. I've heard lots of people say that it helps a lot, and it seems that the home-made co2 generators wouldn't generate enough to matter & they smell :|

sorry for the literature, but it is a journal.

again, i'll take more photos come monday...

It's chilly at night out around here and my tent is in my shed out back , I haven't gotten the heater in yet but hopefully it'll be here early next week. It's supposed to snow here next Tuesday so I hope that it comes!!:!:

And i'll hopefully get the co2 tank and regulator soon. I was asked to show more photos in my journal so here are pics of day#11: NOTICE THE CURLING!!! plz help

LOTS OF CURLING!!!!! Any help? pH 6.0, ec is at 330/157, 80*/57* temp. 24hours of light, 3 floods a day (1/4 of the way up the cube), 24%/36% RH.
Anyone know why they're curling soo much!? i thought i fixed the over watering problem...

Drowning in water my friend. RW hold LOTS of water :wall:. Back off the flood to once a day. I do not like the 4" cubes for just that reason. That and they are a bitch to move later in growth. I recommend RW started cubes in 6" pots of hydroton or higromite. Let them dry out and they will be ok. :-P

From what I have seen these auto plants are pretty touchy. Not that they die easy but they have sucha short cycle that any setbacks stunt yield pretty quick. You should be in good shape though. 600s rock.:weed:

Keep an eye on your temps. Unless you are in the arctic that 600 will keep it toasty. :fire:

Thanks doog. I think I will lower the waterline on the flood-table and switch it down to 2 floods a day, hopefully that will give them a little more room to breathe...
