hey everybody!

i do alot of reading on this site but this will be my first post, as well as my first official grow (for myself alone that is)

I have chosen to use a 150w hps (SunSystems)

a large box fan

and Fox Farm products to start my grow and will adapt barring suggestions and needs and plans.

I also have another plant around a foot tall that i am just starting to take clones from to see if it is female and may be used for mother purposes. It is a very heavy hitting skunk variety.

ill post some pics and get the ball rolling.

here are some various shots over the past 2 days.

oh yea and by the way. The lowryders are non femanized seeds im hoping to get two males and one female. The were ordered from worl-wide mary seeeds and are top notch. Sproated while still soaking the first 24 hours, germinated to a half inch taproot within 12hours in paper towels., popped from soil within day 5 from first soak, and this is now day 7-8 these pics are from.

remember these days are being counted from when i started to soak the seeds. they were placed in 4 2inch fiber blocks to sprout roots and then covered in forx farm oceant forest soil. i am using fox farm grow big starting today and will be using the diluted formula for every day feedings.

Light cycle will be on 18/6 the entire grow.

in about two weeks i will switch to tiger bloom and big bloom

comments questions concerns

i will update often with pics if interest in there

Don`t rush with feeding. Will get in nutrient burn problems. Those young ones will show signs that they need feeding by changing leaf color to yellow (lack of nitrogen)
But skunk looks ready for nutrients. That`s in case if thats not a soilles mix and Grow big is not a seaweed liquid.
And some light reflective material will increase light eficiency - they will grow faster.
Gift wrapping paper works great (mylar). Everything elese looks ok. :)
You will have another room for flowering?

thank you for the warning about giving them nutes too early. i will stick to ph balanced water for the time being. I am still waiting on my ph pen to come in the mail, and currently i am squuezing a full lemon per gallon of water to take it down to 5.5ish???? is this ok? I am then adding nutrients at a weak rate. should i go ahead and give a solid feeding to the Skunk?

I inherited it from a buddy who had an extra 30 plants or so i just grabbed one. That clone should start going in about a week or so if im correct? i didnt use any rooting agents just plain tap water into a grow cube, but i heard people that are very successfull with these methods...?

the plant is alot bigger now and i can take appropriate sized clones to start from if my test clone does indeed turn out to be female. it is currently on 24 hour light under a lone cfl till it roots.

Fox Farm is an organic soil i believe? I read great things about their products. I am going to transplant the skunk into a bigger container b/c it is rootbound. is it best to go a deeper or wider container at this point. the leaves have 9 fingers.

when will these lowryders really start to explode in thier growth rates. i have heard tremendous things about them.

thanks all in advance for help and thanks dsn!

noticed how horrible my spelling has been in previous posts. sorry guys thats bc of bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

also i am only using a 150w hps at this point. i fingure i can flower 2 of the lowryders in the veg state of the clones i take if they are female, and if not ill be planting more seeds.

is the mylar going to make a drastic difference?

i can not think of an efficient way to box in the area smaller to be more light efficient

i used to have it in cab but it got incredibly hot fast. i cant seem to find a cheap and efficient way to keep it cool so i switched to this cabinet.

ideally i would love to remove the ballast and seperate it from the reflector and do a vertical grow but it sounds like a hastle for my needs.

Best pH value is around 6.3 - 6.5. Than the plant can take all nutrients from soil it needs.
Start with 1/4 strenght nutrients. Feed only every second or third watering. If plant start to grow fast, slowly increase nutrient dose. It`s better to give less than overfeed it. You can always give more, but if it`s overfertilized, harm is alredy done.
There will be no problems with rockwool cubes, but You should use rooting agent. Nobody wants wasted cuttings.
And the main rule is to keep humidity very high when cuttings develop roots.
I`ve heard it`s better to use wider pots - roots will need less time to reach the bottom, so plant will grow faster.
Plants during first week or two develop mainly root system. After that they start to grow faster - so just wait till they explode.
Don`t know about Fox farm.

What do You call a drastic difference? :D

thanks again DSN for oyur responses. Im trying to keep this helpful for anyone else following and that is interested so ill keep this in an outline 'ish' format to make it easy to replicate or diagnose my progress. here we go...

1.) i'M watering once per day right now at 1 ts per gallong. Full strenghth watering for once weekly is 2-3 ts per gallon. What is the advantage to feeding once or twice per week as opposed to daily?

2.) what rooting agent would you reccommend from experience?

3.) As far as humidity it is 100%. i rememeber doing these little biodome experiments geminating lima beans or something back in like 2nd grade in two liter bottles back when the bottoms were still black and they were two pieces (anyone else had this?) i modified it using a 20oz bottle and used it to cut the rockwhool to the perfect circle it fits inside to seal and create the humidity. i punctured a few holes in the top for venting.

4.) thank you for the advice on wider pots for better rooting structure, i will take that into consideratioin when looking for two or three gallon pots next weekend.

5.) i heard Fox Farm is a fantastic product. and make only top notch stuff. My seeds are front Joint doctor and they are absolute mutants as far as seed germination as far as i have seen.

Lastly, for my Skunk mommy (pray for me) she is getting rather tall and i would like the canopy beaneath to grow a little more, once is your knowldge on topping? i have been lightly taining it and i would bend the top over but was wondering about topping.

6.)

1. If You feed every watering, You will end with pH problems, salt build up, nutrient burn. If You water with pure water, it will flush away those salts and plants will more easilly get nutrients. And water only, when the soil is almost dry. Some say it`s good to water, when plants get droopy - they will drink faster and grow better. Well, my experience is too short, so can`t say, is that right.
Yeah, and when You get Your pH pen, check the run-off - in that way You can very easy understand, if there are any problems.

2. I have used only one rooting agent, so You should ask somebody else.

I like LST better - word itself says this methods advantage - low stress training. And when I toped my plants, new tops strecthed alot. Indica dominant plants less, but still. Yeah, and i used those tops as cuttings.
This is something You have to decide by Your self.

adn my experience is only one grow (it`s still going on), so there are alot of things I can`t explain or don`t know. So it`s good if You have oppinions from other people too.
And no problem with help! :)

all advice is happily taken :)

funny you mention LST as i started it last night ( well more like continues) i have the plant tied down and have numerous sideshoots struggling for the top. i had done this once before but when i finally put the plant under the HPS it took off and i got lazy. in the pic u can kinda see what im doing, probably a little better in a few days when the shoots get a little more heights, but currently i have about 7 or 8 sideshoots struggling to become their own big nasty nugget holding force :weed::weed:

heres some pics maybe this will help show.

Also the lowryder seeds grew their second real leaf set and is statred on the third

we are on DAY 10

given DSN's advice i might alter my watering plans to twice a week feedings with water in between.

All you other people observing this post can chime in too any advice comments are appreciated. happy tokings.

For what are those sticks?

well, i figured most people tie down their plants (as did I) from the main stem on top.

rather than have a ton of strings tied every which way and keep track of what is going where. Maybe i make this sound more comlicated than it should be but im in school full time and a full time stoner the other half the time so i really dont wanna spend 45 minutes tying and untying strings.

They are just wooder skewers (sp?) from Publix i used to put chicken and veggies on the grill with.

they only need go about a half inch in the soil to be sturdy at any angle and easy easily moved/re used/ adjusted as my needs become avail. I find it fun to train these things with a resiliant strain. I like my plants like i like my woman

a little shorter and thick :hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump:

It takes maximum one minute, to tie down. :D
Be carefull an don`t harm roots.

woot woot :)

yea the skunk is approx 8.5-9" before being bent over like the sweet mofo she is..... and i say 'she' loosely

i am unsure of the sex of this plant yet and am waiting on my test clone (which today shows begginning signs of rooting) can be flowered in about a week or so.

My only intent for this plant is to take several clones from it and then throw it into flowering to see what i can get outa it if it is indeed female.

id say the plant is around the 3 week range?

let me know about those auto ak47's, as this is just a test grow to see if i truely like the autoflowering strains.

if this goes well.... we shall see what comes of it

:eyesmoke:good looking out man ill keep that in mind, im using a combo of the two, i believe the rims of the pot have around an inch clearence before hitting roots, so im ok for now

i am however almost rootbound and need to make some decisions quick about this skunky skunk.

wish the test clone was a week ahead of its pace:blsmoke:

if you guys want pics of anyhing particular let me know.

i was going to drop 3 more skunkxhaze seeds into some water tonight for a 24 hours so and germ them this week but im going snowboarding friday so this will have to wait till the following saturday.

just getting tired of waititng for this clone to root, it has only been 11 days since i cut it. :wall: i almost would rather throw the plant into flowering now but i already started the lowryders and am limited with lighting arrangements untill my return from my trip.

keep watching things will be happening.

me and a buddy will be setting up a 30ish plant large closet grow upon my return as well i will link that post in here. :!:
