Contact these companys and tell them you want them to start carrying more Organic Fertilizer and Potting Soil. Tell them how you love that they hav received Alaska Grow 5-1-1 Organic fertilizer. Then recommend what you would like them to start stocking. Don't recommend highly price products. More Like Fox Farm Happy Frog Soil and Sunshine organic soil 1.5 CU FT for $14.95. Let them no that these aint Wholesale prices.

good idea, but there to cheap to start carrying fox farms and sunshine. Not a big enough demand even if every one on the site started to phone in.

Fuck Lowes. Find a Feed Store. The only Big-Box hardware and "chemical garden" store I hate more than Home Depot (though i spend a but load of money there, hardware) is lowes.

i'm lucky enough to have a Green Thumb Nursery and Armstrong by my house, these may be only in So. Cal. though. Find alternatives to the corporate guys. Feed Stores, Craigs List (some farms deliver mulch), and Garden stores are alternatives.

Love, Peace, and high value shopping.

Edit: Make your own soil. To heck (nuff swearing) with fox farm. I can make a better soil for half that price.

You would never get your point across to the lowes here, start talking "fancy" dirt and you're screwed.:?

I second that organic. I can make a soil mix as good as or better than FF for 1/2 the price. I'm starting to think people don't know how to mix their own so they buy the namebrand stuff.

No I don't think people don't know how, people are just lazy to a point and it is easier to just buy it and be done either that or they just don't want to bother.

my mix is equal parts peat moss, perlite both not miracle grow and mushroom compost. I add a large tablespoon of dolomite lime per gallon of mix. I like a bit more perlite at 40 to 50% lately, but both mixes provide adequate drainage.

Wow, care to step down from that cross soil mixer?

What if you live in the city with no back yard?

What if you suffer from crippling chunks of bone floating around your lower back?

Please dont infer that "not bothering" implies ignorance or laziness. Some people I know are not able to mix their own soil yet still want to grow organically, im thankful that FF puts out a quality product that meets their needs.

Me...im just lazy :bigjoint:

I am trying to learn to do my own soil mixes. For the money there is no other way to afford it in the long run. Especially if I use my own worm compost and reg compost which I am working on In my apt on my balcony:) damn fun.

however I haver had dirt shipped for like 35 bucks a cu foot total and Ihave found that home depot does not have shoit for organic soil at all. So I was as the rite aid and I found that they had organic soil there in every brand. They had a lotta good organic material. I was surpirsed. They also had those platic grow plates for pots. B1 and mulch. So yeah rite aid and smaller drug stores are cool in a bind. They are expensive like fox farms but they are right there and no shipping. Gotta add perlite and castings. Also some lime but they got some shit.
