So we have three plants at my mates house and he is changing the temp to around 25 at night when the lights are off and 60's during the day, he says it will increase resin becuase of the stress from the temperature? is this true?

Thanks

Hot and dry and uvb makes more resin, also at harvest put your plants into 2-3 days and nights of total darkness before you chop them.
I dont think that being cold would make them produce as much resin as the above ways but they may produce some extra resin in an effort to retain heat in the oil better than water.:blsmoke:

i know an old school grower who used to put ice cubes around the base of his plants in soil,,near the end of flower,,apparently,,the plants would bulk up in there process,,feeling the ground temps getting colder would help trick them along to finish,,I've never seen or tried it,,but he was dead serious when he told me

Keep on Growin

Flowering is genetic. A plant will 'finish' when it is good and ready. Not before... doesn't matter what you do.

This is an old hippy method that relates to THC degradation under light. Which is why we dry in the dark, etc. Although it isn't really known how long, or if at all you really need to do this (the dark before harvest).

As light is responsible in the first place for the THC production, it stands to reason that it only starts changing to other cannabinoids at the end of its life cycle... also stands to reason that more light will create more potent trich's, as not all trich's are potent.

colds temps will NOT produce extra resin, i have tried it, it does NOT work.
Certainly not 25 at night! I'm surprised they didn't just wither. 1/2 oz lol.

My temps have gotten down around 47-49 a couple of times and it has purpled some fan leaves and I can't see it being good for your plants in any way.

If you use a 77-78 temp at light on then drop to a 71 degree lights out "night" the plant will produce more resin. That is what I read, that was not in a myth forum either. Some hi-tech cannabis science shit.

also uvb

also quartz glass on your hoods will get some hid uvb in there and they make hid bulbs with it

or use the reptile cfl

also I have read the bags of ice around the stem the last few days before harvest

and the few days of dark before and after 12 and 12.

resin is a repsonse to certain stresses like a sunscreen and some cold helps it feel more natural, that 8 - 10 degree drop at night. I would not go farther.
