Looks like we are finally about to have a real President again.

It wouldn't be so atrocious if it was at least taken at the same rate regardless of how much you made... actually I lie, I still would have a problem with that, just it'd be at least a little more balanced.

Flat 10%, though I'd prefer 0% Income taxes, and just taxing imports.

Imagine how many people driving BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bugattis would pay in taxes for importing them.
That's actually a nice benefit of the CO2 tax. Even though it's applied to domestic goods as well, the cost is a lot more for foreign-made products due to the increased fuel use for transportation. This way, they can tax foreign-made good more heavily while getting around trade agreements that are already in place.

Yes, but do you really think government is going to abolish income taxes?

The only thing government does is swallow liberties and release red tape.

Well, the main benefit is to make domestic production more cost-effective. Of course the government isn't going to eliminate income taxes, and I don't expect it to ever do that. It wouldn't be a good idea anyway.

Three quarters of the Federal budget is defense, social security, medicare, or interest on debt. It's hard to trim money from any of that without pissing off a whole bunch of people.

Yeah, Bush fucked up, and the legislators let him. Should have used the fact that there was a budget surplus to get a balanced budget amendment passed, and then gotten the budget surplus marked for being used to pay off the national debt.

We're probably sending more to foreign and domestic bankers than to oil producing regions.
