Looking to build a two room grow tent

I'm considering building a two room grow tent. The dimensions I'm planning are 8' Wide, 4' Deep, and 6.5' Tall. Each room would be 4' Wide (one veg, one flower). Each room would have access though 2 separate doors (tarp zippers) and full separation between the two.

I would like to complete the frame as cost effectively as possible while maintaining good quality. What would some of you suggest? I'm considering 1 1/2" PVC, though I'm not sure I can get all the required fittings for full construction. I'm also considering using 2x4's - Either standard Pressure Treated or Premium White Wood Studs (I'm not sure of the difference other then price). If I go with the 2x4's I don't have to worry about doing any bracing for my lights (1000W and 400W), but if I run PVC I'll need to build another frame strictly for lighting out of galvanized Steel Tubing.

If I do build this tent, what would you recommend for intake, circulation, and ventilation? I'll be adding Carbon Filters later, just not at the beginning.

Thanks!!!

add ur carbon filter right off the bat so u know how your box will circulate, you dont wanna have to change things up when you have a full box of plants, Its alot easier to do it right the first time.

Are you going to use plywood, panda paper, or what to enclose this?

wood is the best way to go IMO, plus its easier to staple things to(ex. panda paper, mylar)

are your veg and flower rooms going to be the same size?

I just build my grow room for about $500 lights and ventalation included, and you could walk into the room where its at, into the closet and pull a shirt from the hanger and not hear the fans, ballast, air/water pumps, or smell anything out of the norm. and it would of been cheaper if i wouldnt of skimped and rushed the first time.
My best advice is to plan it out step by step and take your time, dont waste your money on what you think will work, go with what u know.

Good luck

I was planning on using Panda plastic since I already have it. From the way you've described yours I'm going for the same goal. It's going to be in a room which is attached to the Master Bedroom and I don't want to hear the Ballasts, Fans, etc. going all night and I don't mind the smell but my wife doesn't want to smell any of it. What did you use on the exterior to keep it so quite? I'm thinking you went with Plywood and used Mylar on the interior for your reflective surface. Going with Plywood will add a bit more expense but for the sound proofing it will worth it.

Also - I was going to build the rooms the same size but the more I think about it my flowering room doesn't require the size. I'm only going to have 2 kids flowering at any given time. My flowering room will have 2 Mothers, and all of my seedlings (NM allows 4 mature plants, and 12 Seedlings - no more for personal production). As I harvest I'll move 2 of the seedlings (I'm going to keep trimming them so they fall within the required size limit of 12" x 12") and allow them to grow taller for a couple weeks before moving them to the flowering side. I'm hoping for somewhat of a perpetual harvest with about 4 weeks between harvests (this maybe a bit too overzealous, but it's my hope).

Thanks for your help!!

I used the insulated vent lines from home depot and put a layer of insulation between my 2 layers of panda paper, that helped tighten the plastic up and keep things quite.. I also ran my exhaust out of the top at the farrest point from my door.

I would do 3ft x 4ft for a Veg room with your 400 watter, at the top would be really warm and that would make a great seedling/clone station, say let your plants veg. until you cant lift your light anymore because of the top shelf, then you do your cloning and toss in your flower room. 5ft x4ft for a flower room with the 1000 watter since your plants will almost double in size when you go to flower them, in this room youd be able to raise the light the full 6ft..

Thanks!!! I didn't realize the Panda paper could come apart. I thought it was one solid piece with no separation - I love the insulation idea. I think this will require me to run a cooling system in the room though since there is no cooling system and it can get hot in there without the lights. I'm in an area with very little humidity and was considering getting a portable swamp cooler to introduce Humidity to the outside (or entire room) rather than directly inside of the grow tent. If I need to I'll add a 4" vent directly into the tent from the cooler.

I'll keep you updated as to my progress. Right now is the planning stage, next comes ordering specific components and build out.

Thanks again!!!

One other thought - do you think I'll need two filters since I'm sealing off each room from the other? I was thinking that I'll need two of each item - 2 Fans, 2 Filters, etc. to keep everything completely separate.
