Youre in uk so @diyled or invisble sun horticulture seems like the obvioous starting points. Go for a solution with 4 boards or lighting points if you wanna get the coverage right in a square space.

There are also plenty of good cheap options in the chinese knock of thread.

But theres an obvious benefit to going with a shop located in your country if you run into issues and need support

The china route beats mars hydro pants down if you know how to design it. And most likely cheaper.

But if you wannna go for a UK alternative i love these boards:

But theyre quite expensive...

They have authentic samsung diodes, in lm301h and 90 cri, with red supplementation. They might be a bit too much in vegg but should flower like beast. If you put 4 of those on some 3 mm backing alusheet and put them on a hlg320-54AB you should be grand and have a light that you will never wanna upgrade. But it would probably be just over 400, maybe 450 with alu and cabling.

Diyled also have plenty of options and is help and sponsor here.

This would be a comparable fixture from diyleduk, without 90 cri diodes and extra reds. These would have an appreciable effect in flower but you can do without that. Personally, havinngg seenn for myself both a 90cri flower and how often people tend to want to upgrade from basic spectrum, id take a long and hard look at ISH. Its not by chance that they have problems keeping this board in stock.

Even feet (4x2, 4x4 etc) id rec some strips but for a 3x3 or a meter they become somewhat an engineering solution if you want even light spread towards the corner. But 4 boards can be a lot of dough for a 3x3, hence the china way can be more economic. You could have the build for 150$ plus shipping and a couple of alu plates

This one is 375 quid with the far red recommended for 1mx1m, so i will prob go for this, I was looking forward to trying a build but might start off small for my veg tent , lazy stoner n I'm useless at electrics
That something more or less good but a few points for diy:
-id do a larger frame, 70x70cm for a 3x3 for better spread and less of middle hotspot.
- Can only see the pic not the spec, but i believe this isnt the 90cri diode for the whites. The latest test i saw pure 90 cri diodes won over 80cri + red supplementation; similar harvest yield but about 1 week faster finish, and better bagappeal. Id expect 90 cri. + Red supplementation to do even better.

I feel youd be better served in the long run by the ish i reced earlier on. Thee connections/electronics: it really is a piece of piss, so easy youll feel silly for being afraid of it. I did my first with no more experience than you. Have a look at growmau5 diy to start (but remember that brand info is outdated!)

Butt most of all buy those boards theyll be out oof stock soon

Another alternative for you would be this..... £337! - €392!.....Well within budget.
Plug and play, covers a 3ft x 3ft no problem, lightweight, tons/tonnes of light.

Or still within budget, the Version 2 with added red and far red diodes for £399
Temporarily sold out but more coming soon.

Great lights, I highly reccomend them.
@diyled also stocks diy parts to build your own lights, it's easier than building a meccanno set lol
