looking to build a hlg 550 clone

my goal is to save power but dont wanna screw myself as currently im running dual hps bulbs would it make more sense to run 10 boards in 5 fixtures so i can have better efficiency over the 600w driver .... most likely i am gonna run 480w driver but im trying to think about my different options, and no i can't very well switch to a lower powered board as i already have them and i dont see that making alot of sense coming from a 2k setup

theres loads on alibaba same leds as quantum boards and some will be the same manufacture

your prob better running 200w ish drivers as there lots cheaper also if you went for vero29 s you would get more light for you money prob 6-8 of them to equal a 1000w hps
honestly i wish i had real boards as i feel like thats a pretty fair price and fair for everyone but the real boards are hard to come by and im trying to do things fast and for as cheap as i possibly can, i do own a hlg 550 tho lol ........ i figure im gonna end up around the 400 dollar mark for each light paid 400 for 8 boards so far
yes two boards per lamp using an hlg-240H driver.
Do you think theres much of an advantage with 312 pcb over 304 pcb if using 4 quantum boards to make hlg clone?

so ive looked into the specs on all three drivers and it seems like the 600w driver is 96 percent efficiency, the 480w driver has 95 percent efficiency and lastly the 240w driver runs at 93.5 percent so idk what to make of that obviously there is more then just the driver but i dont wanna screw myself over going for the 480w driver over the 600 if im not gonna lose out on efficiency as like i said im coming from dual 1k bulbs over my 4x8 area i do see that i can get 240w drivers for a few dollars cheaper and it makes sence if i am going to be doing 2 lights per heatsinks ...... idk
is it possible for me to get my hands on a slate 5 like whats used in the 600h kit from growerslights.com ?
from what i have gathered i feel like my best option is heatsinkusa, which was mentioned in the beginning of the tread figured i could get 4 26'' lengths for 170 or so ..... my first idea was a peice of sheet alumium and basicly copying the slate 5 heat sink both seem like they will cost a similar amount altho the heatsinkusa option does seem like a bit less work and honestly my hlg 550 gets smoking hot im sure the fins would help quite a bit id imagine i could add a cpu style fans as well which might be necessary if i go for the 600w driver

That's interesting. Can you measure temp of heatsink right behind a diode ?

The 8.000 profile is considerably more effective, with 1 inch fins, but its more than double the cost of the 7.984.
have u built a light using this stuff, would love to see some pictures if u have any

Nothing like that - too expensive for my budget. I've got some of their .601 profile for my Samsung Strips though.
