If you have a business that sells equipment for horses, you can get one of those heavy duty plastic buckets, around 20 gals and they have nice heavy duty handles on them already. Sturdy.

Rubber maid totes are not UV resistant. It would really such if it cracked in half and spilled your plant all over when you tried to move it. Don't you have a Home Depot or Lowes? They have plenty of planters available.

i've used them for 2 years and the work fine besides you're not really supposed to move plants

An Airpot is a LOT easier, and stealthier to haul into the back country than a rubbermaid tote. Obviously however, the rubbermaid tote is more readily available.

yeah I was going to say smart pots, airpots or grow bags because all of those can be folded up into a pack. I would not go any bigger than lets say 15-20 gallon, otherwise like mentioned above, you will be just wasting soil. If you want to go that big, I would just dig out the area, mix the dirt available with some additives ie..worm castings, guano, kelp, bone meal or blood meal etc......
