Can anyone recommend a good commercial version of Mazari Shariff?

That one is supposed to be the "king" of the Afghan hash strains, having been purpose bred for thousands of years to make sieved hash.
I know Dutch Passion has what they claim is Mazari, but I don't really trust them at all. Not even a little bit. However, you can't really know unless you try. I've seen some Deep Chunk pics that would definitely produce insane amounts of hash. I'm sure you've seen the pic where you basically can't see the bud it's only crystal. It's in one of his ads but I'm pretty sure came from an outside source originally. You have to hunt in that line though and I've heard the flavors are.... not all that great but that's pretty subjective.

A lot of times the pictures do not really represent the strain being sold. It s also about marketing. Very good picture with dense buds wth sugared crystals but when you grow you see small buds from it. Oh well, may be I'm not that good a grower yet to produce those nice flowing trichs down them leaves.

I have some going now - I bought the seeds originally at the Vancouver Seed Bank in Vancouver, BC. They have a website and a store. I have begun breeding my own seeds with the ones I got from them. They were good as were other seeds I have bought from them. I can also tell you one place to stay away from and that would be the Kind Seed Company.

I've seen people post about quite a bit of variety given the area is quite huge. At least prewar anyway. Long flowering, short flowering. Given the mountain terrain it isn't illogical to think that people didn't travel much and that pollen couldn't necessarily be easily dispersed everywhere. I do know I had some Afghani when I was younger that was completely paranoia inducing. Granted I was a teenager and our brains are quite a bit different, but it wasn't like most Afghani's I've had. Recently I've run into one at a dispensary that has given me the giggles and the buds are kind of sparse and not that large. They really don't look good, but they smell really nice (and unique as hell) and they work quite well even for someone with high tolerance like myself. Reminds me more of a sativa than an indica again.
Well indica/sativa is a somewhat arbitrary distinction. There are low CBD and tall growing subcontinental strains for sure. Also, individual reactions to any strain can be fairly different. Not everything called "Afghani" is. . .many of the commercial "Afghanis" are actually hybrids (usually with Skunk, but sometimes other things).

Anyway, yeah, all these Afghani lines are open pollinated outdoor grown lines. Every village has its own, there is cross pollenization, and Afghanistan itself is geographically large with somewhat variable climate. Probably not just anything grown in Afghanistan is going to be what people think of when they think of "Afghanica".

All I'm saying is that the distinction between Pakistan and Afghanistan is itself somewhat arbitrary, and from a genetic standpoint, I'm sure you can find quite a bit of similarity in strains near the respective borders, that's all.

i myself am on the hunt for a great afghani. had one called afghani black back in like 2004. might not be the actual name but shit was dank! buds were dark yellow light orange with black trichs. i kept almost every gram after i sampled it. super body buzz. and the flavor was so weird. would have to say spicy n floral. nice lil tight kush buds.

Also, another overlooked strain is Sensi's "Marleys Collie", Afghan x Jamacian...very potent cross.

he never asked about the strains you're recommending.
you seem to ramble on and have a hard time staying on the subject.
Do you read these threads before you post?

I have been growing lots of indicas including afghan and pakistan. The best so far has been Maple Leaf Indica.

Not the most tasty or potent but great plant, good yields, stable phenos and a wonderful no burnout buzz.

The hybrids will give a more kickass buzz but usually have some anxiety to them and burnout on the comedown.

Pakistani Kush from WOS was good too. Not anything special just a good buzz, no anxiety or bad stuff.

Afghan #1 from Seedsman was another good calm high with a plant that looked sativa and had somewhat airy buds.

If you wanted more potency you could just kief the buds and make hash like they do in Afghanistan.
