Hi ladies and gents. I just joined the site and I am looking for some advice on a grow tent I am looking at. I would like to grow 2 maybe 3 plants in this tent. I am wondering what light i should get and basically break how this thing works in super layman's terms. I'm having a hard time reading/understanding the description. The comments are kind of vague. I would like to keep it in my garage which does get a little hot in the summer. Can someone help me? It is the Gorilla grow tent 2x2.5x 5'7. They have it on amazon.

depends on how you train the plants, a tent that size is good for 2 or 3 once they start flowering. you could get 6 or 8 in there if your flipping clones, but if you're going to grow shrubs, maybe 3

Well I will probably use like 3 gallon pots. I don't need them too huge. I don't know how to set up the lights, like is there an outlet with a plug, and setting up a fan and all that stuff. I basically know nothing lmao. Sorry.

Actually I just bought the topolite complete kit with carbon filter and fan for $227. LED 300 w. Got mostly good reviews.

depends on what lights you get. there's a big difference between h.i.d. lights and led. a lot of people like using T5 florescents for veg.
you need to make at least a basic plan to get started. how much do you want to produce? do you want to grow one set of plants straight through? or do you want to stagger it so you get a perpetual yield going? you might want to look into starting with autos, they are getting better all the time, you only need one tent and one light, and can still run a perpetual if you want.
i can't really teach you what it's taken me years to learn, i can just tell you that i still learn things all the time.

Well apparently I didn't think of actual wattage which means I could add like a 250 cfl. Isn't the rule 100 watts per plant?Would I be able to use a regular light bulb socket power cord adapter for that you think?

Dep on Budget,I would go with a 600 HPS Light ,but Cool tube, unless you get a good quality tent ,then go with cool hood.4 inch out let with 4 inch filter,4 inch inlet .Auto Pots for the two plants with a 18/20 litre tank .Medium coco ,larva Rock.Nutrients Canna a/b ,Big Bud Advanced,Pk 13/14 Canna.Ec pen.Tent Bloom Box,great tents at a low price .

Good Luck .

No it's just a regular screw in socket with a cord. I can't post links yet apparently lol. I was also wondering if I could buy one of those big 250 watt cfls with a reflector already attached instead of the light socket thing and somehow clip that at the top of the tent. I bought a pair of light hangers that are frequently bought with the tent i bought. I'm sure that the 300 w LED that is included is not enough for 2 plants.

We would need to know the brand and model of the LED you have.

LED labeling is all over the place and not always accurate.
Be warned, their is a lot of emotion on this site about LED's. Threads often go south after someone mentions an LED that is not popular here.

The tent is topolite but I didn't see a name brand for the LED. I was going on reviews that I read and sites that suggested it for someone in a budget.

Ok well it will be here Thursday. I'm hoping that even if it's not an awesome light that it will still be worthwhile with some extra light. I did a grow before with just cfls so you would think this would be an upgrade from that. And I am on a budget (wife not thrilled about this either) so I think the cfl led route might be decent for me. Affordable. Not to sound like I know what I'm talking about but that should produce some good bud, right? I know you get what you put in, but potency wise don't you think it will be decent?

Sorry I keep posting so much. Getting sucked in. I wanted to also mention I bought some Fox farm ocean soil. I already have a couple seedlings that are a few days old in some potting mix I had. Will I be able to transplant them into the new soil and put them in this tent without hurting the plant. Is that too much in one day for a seedling?

I use ffof often and never have a problem transplanting a seedling into it but there are no guarantees.

don't transplant them till they need to be transplanted, fox farms is good, but i see a lot of people having problems when they put plants in it that are too small. let them get three or four sets of leaves then transplant them, they'll be able to take it a lot better
