Looking at COBs

i wanted to run HLG but they are a little expensive for me right now. Currently running a 400 watt MH in a 3x3 tent.

I was contemplating buying one of these https://www.amazon.ca/Spectrum-Indoor-Greenhouse-Hydroponic-Growing/dp/B07HK22WLM/ref=mp_s_a_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1547489029&sr=8-21&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=cob+grow+light&dpPl=1&dpID=41HTzJtQC-L&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1 for veg and possible one for flower so I can phase out my 400watt MH. This light only draws 300watts from wall which is lower than my MH already and claims to output a lot of power. Or is this just as terrible as the blurple lights?

I figured you guys would say such a thing.

I really want to run one of the 260 watt HLG. But damn those suckers cost $447.

I wish I could get by with a 100 watt which costs $200.

That MH is expensive to run.

I was kind of in the same boat. Just started back up again. Did not want to run the 1000w HPS and 400 MH setup. Bought a cheap LED on amazon. Worked ok for veg but once things got a bit bigger it did not do so well penetrating. I bit the bullet and went with 2 HLG 320XL for a 5x5 space. Very pleased so far. I know the price hurts but, they will pay for themselves eventually haha.

Interesting link.

Yeah my tent is only 3x3. Growing for personal use. I don’t vape that much anyway.

I guess I gotta source the parts. I don’t know how I feel about buying that stuff on alibaba or what I’m doing.

I know if I go HLG I could build the kit and it comes with everything needed.

That’s not a bad price at all for that light. I may consider that one for my tent. The $115 one, not timber is what I’m referring to.

Think I may be able to get away with one for my vegging?

Dude are you wanting a veg light?
If so you don't need the 260w HLG kit. That powers for flowering .

Here this is on offer in 5k
https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/kits/products/135w-led-board-kit
I was looking at the 135 but they don’t sell those ones in Canada sadly. It’s quite shitty. But yeah I really want to phase out my MH and use LEDs for both flower and veg. The 260 would be for my flower tent or I just buy two 100s

Right now I’m only in the veg stage with the 400watt MH which I want gone sooner than later. Thing runs super hot and is expensive.

Trying to find a super affordable flower light and a veg light.

Ah fair enough, I was hoping it was just for veg. Then you would of been golden.
Yeah the Canada site seems to lack a lot of the options the USA site has.
Best option on a budget would be to do a strip build. That would save you a lot.

Yeah I know I just changed everything up. Haha.

But yeah I really need two lights. For two different tents. But don’t want to be using he MH for much longer. My seedlings are under there. Which is fine. But I know Agee the first electrical bill I’m gonna freak haha.

It’s a personal grow. Couple ounces per plant is all I need really.

Strip build is another option but that’s something I have no knowledge of. Sourcing parts and building shit. Kinda why I liked the HLG so much. It’s a full kit right.

In a 3x3 Space you're going to need at least 2 of those for flowering.

1 would be on the low end, but it'll do for veg.

Would it be smarter to flower with my 400watt MH? And then buy one of those $115 for veg

you can flower with MH, wait till you can afford the LED you want. even if you shave 100W youre only talking like $5 a month, no rush

Really eh. The benefits in the electrical bill aren’t that significant? I always thought they would be. I always considered my 400 watt MH a guzzler.

Maybe I convert and run something serious for the veg and keep the MH for the time being for flower then. Cause I will need another light regardless. I only have one. So when my girls want to flower will need a second light. May as well use the MH for that and put some sort of LED in the veg tent
