Wedding Cake from crop king made a believer out of this skeptic. Granted these are not dense photo buds but she flowered during a very humid July and avoided bud rot. Grew like a ball bat with very little side branching with a loose cola. Extremely pungent skunk in flowering with good trikes. Potency definitely surprised me could it be related to the humidity? More potent than my slo n flo freebie from CSI. Gooey leafy bud with a very relaxing mellow. I used earth juice, ewc, dug a hole in the ground and filled with ocean forest. Eight hours of direct sun.

Well whoever grew what u tried didn’t know what they were doing.

Any harshness is either overfed or improperly dried/cured or all 3..

I can smoke my organic autos 3-4 days after harvest rush dried and no harshness.
I grew it, it was gorgeous. Strong as hell too. Sour diesel. I grew photo and auto, together, same breeder. Auto just not as clean smoke. I've also done amnesia haze and white og with same results.
Been growing 40 years. 15 indoor. The grower has his shit together i assure you. He also is a pretty experienced smoker.
If you don't notice the difference that's OK, not everyone needs good dope, you can smoke dog shit for all i care. The reason I asked the op the question was im hearing the same thing from a bunch of smokers, and was genuinely curious.

I dont grow organic tho. Im switching in 2 grows and gonna give it a shot for fun. I know people who grow organic and its better than salt dope, hands down. I might give the autos a run one more time when I switch and see if it helps.

Hey, thanks for stopping in and being a dick for no reason tho, I'm sure the op found it helpful.

Growing them side by side of course they will vary - the question I ask is where they fed the same? I’m sure the auto would be smaller and would require less food. Autos generally need less feed anyways. Could be why it tasted like shit in ‘comparison’?

Organic trump salt based nutes dude. Make the switch - you won’t regret it!

The OP wasn’t even asking a question - he was merely making a statement about how he is surprised by how good the auto is and if anyone else had similar experiences.

I was simply replying to you that over feeding them or poor harvests could be to blame. I don’t know your experience level so it was a generic comment. Sorry if it came across as harsh, that’s the fault of the internet as we can’t convey tone and meaning behind our ‘words’.

The thing is that this sour diesel auto was not the same as the photo. It was a cross between sour diesel and something else and the general thing seems to be not to do enough stabilising and long enough breeding with autos. Most breeders make crappy autos and comparing some diesel auto to a diesel photo is like comparing diesel crossed to something completely different.

Dont expect auto version of some photo strain to be the same, i think its borderline bullshitting what most breeders do with their labeling of auto strains.

If you want the best autos, your best bet is to go with a breeder like mephisto that does not try to copy some photos, but breeds their own autoflower strains. They are not in the rush of bringing some new "auto version of a hot new photo strain" on the market and slabbing a name on it that sells, but instead they do with autos what people do with photos and it shows in the quality. Im not saying that some "auto version of photos" would not be good or that all those breeders would breed shitty autos, but its more of a hit or miss with them than a trusted pure auto breeder.

If ill buy autos again(i have decent amount of seeds), it will most likely be from mephisto or similar breeders and it wont be some "auto version of a photo", except i might buy a ducksfoot auto, or auto duck or what ever it was called just for shits and giggles.
