Had hair down to the middle of my back twice since leaving the Army several decades ago now. Had it pulled back in a pony tail when I was working as an engineer for Amoco at there HQ in Chicago. Suit/Tie/Long-Ass pony tail. Actually had a guy tell me 'You must be pretty smart, they never hired a hippie before.'

Its real short again now.

When I was working in Dallas and cut it SHORT the first time, I was amazed by the people who initiated conversations that had NEVER talked to me with my hair long. Shit yeah people label you. Best off to avoid those people. :dunce:

Yes indeed we do Lacy I just finished henna treating mine now I smell like a haystack but my hair is uber shiny and I couldn't get a tangle if I wanted to.And I wouldn't have even cut my hair as much as I did but it was starting to get caught in everything and I was afraid of being scalped lol!:-P

OMG. I use to use that all the time but found something better.
Its called 'vegetal color' and doesn't have that dried out effect like the real henna does and doesn't smell like hay PLUS it is a lot easier to use and comes in LOTS of colours.

I have used copper chectnut, henna red, mahongany but there are many other colours to choose from. It does a great conditioning job too.

See my avatar? I had just done my hair with the 'henna red' colour.

(shakes head of hair for effects;))

Ohhhhhh thanks a bunch I don't the hay smell and would try about anything "except funky chemicals"to not have that so im going to look up that color! Iv'e been useing the Caca blocks the lush company puts out it has a lot of coco butter and I add a bit of olive oil when I cook up the henna block but it still is slightly dry feeling after the first couple rinses. So thanks for the tip the color ranges are perfect as well since im pretty much stuck with being a brunette or a redhead or somewhere in between.

Also Sebastian puts out a product called "colourshines' and it is also very nice and gentle. It isn't a permanent hair colur and they have a HUGE colour line. I have the colour ginger here. It does have some checmical in it though but mkaes your hair ultra SOFT!!!!

I gotta go

Later pookie.

I've had both very long and very short hair and can agree with that.

However....this goes both ways....take the thread starter for example.....I've just been labelled a 'conformist' (ha ha yeah right) for how I choose to wear my hair.

Shit, one guy even said 'all people with short hair should die'.......Oh the bitter irony.

Can you not be a Hippy AND wear your hair however you like?

LOL.. I know no one who is like "omg, he has short hair must be the devil". Just a little more weary.. it's not a nail in the coffin, jus like a warning flag. LoL. If you're a nonconformist that always becomes apparent no matter how you look. LOL.. guys are getting all paranoid..<stomps foot>"I've got short hair, but I'm still part of the group". LOL.. guys crack me up...

Shoulder length, but I don't really enjoy hippies to much. I'm actually offended when someone calls me a hippie.

You just proved my point.....You're 'more weary' of someone based on THEIR APPEARANCE.

How about if you were 'more weary' of me because I was black?..... or disabled?..... or because I smoke weed?

P.S. HotNSexy, this is hardly a group of 'Non Conformists' is it, for starters a female would have to wear her hair short to be a 'Non Conformist' (if based on hair style), I was commenting on the irony of some of the comments in this thread.

good point. I think no matter how hard we as humans try not to be judgmental, that fact of the matter is....we are.

I try very hard not to judge people by their skin colour especially as that is just sooooooo lame :|
And to judge someone because they are disabled...even lamer.

I don't think that is what she meant though.

BUT in saying ALL of this I am a bit more weary of men with long hair for some reason and I don't know why :|

I know I am hijacking this thread but I don't go with the flow either. I don't care what fashions are in or out.

"And the sign said,
Everybody's welcome,
Come in and pray'
But when the passed arond the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay,
So I got me a piece of paper,
And I made my own little sign;
"Thank you Lord for thinking of me'
I'm alive and doing fine." "
