Lollipop?

So I tried searching these forums and the internet but couldn't really find any solid info on lollipop pruning. If someone wouldn't mind explaining it that would be awesome. What is it, what is the benefit of it, how do you do it, and why should you do it? Thank you very much!

its just removing the bottom stems that would otherwise produce small whispy .5 gram buds. Usually these go to clones. It'll make the plant focus more on the main cola. Selling a 1 ounce full cola is pretty impressive to people.

it is when you trim off the bottom 2/3's (or less) of your fan leaves so you only have close growth up untill you hit the top. The thought is that it allows more light to hit your lower flowering/budding areas thus increasing yield. some say it works like a dream, some say it is just retarded to do because you are taking away the fan leaves which are collecting the most light and feeding your plant/flowers/buds.... it's one of those things, "to each their own", do what you want and what works for you.

IMO leave the leaves unless they are more than 1/2 dead/burned

I lollipop for different reason. Bottom third completely stripped. Why??? I dont want my plants to waste energy trying to develope little popcorns that are a pain in the arse, time consuming to trim and not worth a fart in weight. Better all the energy be used to develope main colas. Second reason is to improve air flow under the canopy, roots need fresh air and reduces the risk of mold.

Technique...... strip 1/3 of the bottom 1/3 every 3-4 days until bare as so not to shock. Nice blade or scissors and trim em back to main stem. Have your cloner at the ready as you get some nice cuttings. I aim to get this finished 1 week before swithing to 12/12, the week allowing forany stress to pass.

Hey MrMeanGreen thanks alot that's the information I was looking for. So literally cut everything in the bottom 1/3 off? So there's nothing left but the main stem? All bare? And so do you end up with the same total yield it's just concentrated in the top 2/3?

Well that's what work for me. Dont do it all at once, do it in 3 sittings every 3-4 days and make sure you kepp an eye and nip any new shoots. Glad to be of help.

aye...do what MrMeanGreen says...just trim off all those lower shoots that don't amount to anything and if something tries to grow back there just snip it off :)
