Live Resin Vacuum Purging Question

Hey I need some help with some Live Resin im purging at the moment.

This was a openblast , of some super fine Franco’s lemon cheese , only buds were used fresh , columns were packed and frozen , Butane was also cooled but only for a hour or 2 to avoid any accidents.

Initial solvent purge was done at 75f
Came out beautiful very light yellow in color
Amazing smell , the live resin is in a thin layer on some oil slick PTFE , It has been purging at 80f in the Vacuum chamber set to 25.0 hg for 72 hours

Let me first say what im trying to accomplish , I am trying to make a live resin budder/wax consistency , I have got my teq for shatter down but i realy want some budder this is all for personal use , so if been keeping my temps real low and going real slow to preserve terps

After 72 hours at 25 hg There is still some reaction bubbles forming

Can anyone who is clued up in the extraction game please advise me how to go about this? My understanding is to get the live resin to a nice shatter consistency and then agitate it , but 72 hours in at 25 hg it is still forming bubbles and is still very sappy?

Live resin will rarely if ever be shatter. It will wax/budder up due to terpene and moisture content.

I agree.
My live resin comes out like honey oil, and if I don’t keep it in my freezer it will sugar up into wax in about a week. If you want some interesting texture just whip it up, whip it good. I personally just keep my LR as a delicious aromatic puddle.

I guess a suggestion for people to avoid accidents with butane, as in not putting it in your freezer, is to create a saltwater ice chest, which should allow the butane canisters to be cooled to around 0F, and it can be kept outside just in case.

it is currently -25C outside, so my canisters sit in a bag out there! Perfect for the extraction and prep, makes my purges a huge pain in the butt. In the summer I have the opposite issue!

P.s saltwater is corrosive and canisters are metal, I feel like I should insert a warning to not STORE your butane in water haha!

Honestly a little hash isn't worth blowing yourself up. I did a little open ended butane extraction years ago and decided it wasn't worth the risk. I decided that closed loop was too much to invest when everyone wants solventless so I changed direction towards making live rosin. Each method has it's ups and downs, both produce excellent product I just decided if I am gonna buy a bunch of gear that I would go with the pressing instead of a closed loop.

Live resins are typically high enough in terpene content to not harden. The C-10/15 terpenes are alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, and esters, so act as a solvent to the C-22 cannabinoids and longer chain molecules.

The soup is however aromatic and tasty, so I just close my eyes when I dab, if I just can't stand to look at it.

If you want budder, try running a sample at 85F and -29.5" hg. Periodically stir/whip it to form budder. It will have a lower terpene content, but still be highly aromatic due to its increased surface area.
