DWR,

What you have are fungus/soil nats. They are pesky, but from my experiance, they do no damage to the plant. If you want to get rid of them you can do a couple of things. 1) You can try pesticides (wouldn't recommend it); 2) try the vinigar thing; 3) you can hang "sticky" paper in your area; 4) or you can put a thick layer of playbox sand ontop of your soil.

Hope you get the problem solved. :peace:

gnats eat plant roots they enter from the top or bottom. the larvie hatch into the gnats.

collection of the adluts is only one part, start adding a larviecide to your water

HA HA HA I had same problem, they only hung out 1 or 2 plants for some reason, and seemed to like congregating in 1 of the trays that the pot sat in

I firstly, sat in my grow room like kerate kid, cathing em mid air then humanley eiliminating them out of existence

Then plan 2, i got a normal household lighter, and tinkered with it, until it became a flame thrower, then bust into my room when there are not expecting it, and fuk up there little meeting in the tray.

Put it this way i won in the end, i think there may arround 3 clever ones left. I'll get em tho!

Show no mercy, as the ones you spare, will regenerate that little swarm in no time!

Good luck

Sounds like fruit flies to me...I had them my first grow...

- I tried pesticides - didn't work
- vinegar - didn't work (well in killed like 3% of them)
- also people recommended water, wine and yeast - didnt work
- the only thing I will highly recommend, is put about 1 inch thick layer of
sand on top of your soil. The only thing working for me! Though there is
a trick...make sure you have a little bit of sand around handy...if you
disturb the soil and mix it with the sand those suckers will be RIGHT
BACK if they have a little bit of soil available...
- the good thing is they dont feed of your plants so no worries...also if
you put vinegar and a couple drowns, take a close look...there are
black ones (stupid ones...easy to get rid of) and black and white stripe
ones (real bastards...survive a lot)

Good luck and let me know how it goes!!!

Fungus Gnats like stated earlier. I would recommend laying potato slices on top of your soil. The gnats are attracted to it and you switch out the slices every 24 hours. Fixed my problem within 2 to 3 days.
