Depends what you consider a clinical trial. If we're talking a for real new drug on the market trials (all phases etc.) you can easily hit several hundred million. Now, if we're talking university type of trials, research type stuff (small sampling, tiny team etc), the bill will ring up starting in the hundreds of thousands (Bargain basement prices). Mind you there are clever ways to offset the costs..........................................

That's on the lower end of the scale.
I would also assume they will use a number of programs to offset up to 50% (rough estimate from no data on my end).

I'm happy to see there is movement on this end regardless of corporate backing. The raw data is what counts.

Too bad it's being done by CanniMed which means they are going to use their shitty milled/irradiated weed that probably has very little actual medicinal value left. How good is that raw data going to be?

Hey guys, total newbie here... Not exactly sure if this is the right place to ask this question but does anyone have contact information / opinions / etc on the people behind Zenabis?

I think these guys are one of a couple (a number) of applicants backed by some fund or other. I remember reading is somewhere just cant find the reference. If you do a google search a whole bunch of company names come up and you can trace it down. Zenabis basically is the trade name associated with the following companies.
Canaleaf Systems Inc. <---- U.S. based , International Herbs Medical Marijuana Ltd. <---- Atlas Produce Supply Ltd. (Parent) etc. etc. here is a link to give you an idea and to get you started. http://www.medicaninc.com/board-of-directors/

From the quick look I had describing the study, they are in a sense replicating the studies done by Sativex but on a more limited scale (not launching a new drug). They will be looking at the efficacy of mmj cannabinoids on pain receptors. So in a sense it does not matter how good the bud is as long as it contains the studied cannabinoids (the bud just need to have enough of each cannabinoid to meet study criteria meaning enough to have a discernible effect on the corresponding receptor in question). Think of it as if Vodka was being studied...it doesn't matter how smooth, what "nose",etc. it has because it the ethanol that is being studied. (This is an oversimplification as vodka is much more than ethanol and water (oils...etc) but you see where I'm going with this). Sooooooo, raw data should be pretty usable, regardless of the cannabis being used for the study.

Now, if for example the cannabis being studied lacks certain cannabinoids (and that is why it is inferior in quality) then yes raw data may be unreliable. But I don't think they will study all the cannabinoids in the bud anyways, just the main ones.

Thank you very much, Agracan, this is very helpful.

Any opinions on them generally?

What angle do you mean?

I haven't had any direct dealings with them, so I don't have an opinion one way or another. I am however an eternal optimist so I see no issues until proven otherwise.
