Lights how far off wall?

So ive been growing with vertical lights in a modified octogon set up but Ive decided to switch to overheards in my new place. I plan on having (5) 1000wHPS overheads running when Im in full stride. Now the room is 11.5ft by 9.5ft. You enter on the right side of the room and the to the back wall its 9.5 ft and to the left wall its 11.5ft . Im thinking about hanging the light 2 ft off the wall which would put the space between each row of lights at 2.5ft Id like to have a foot or so to walk around the perimeter. I know it depends on hood type . I want to make sure I have good coverage.and Im not wasting light. So how far off the wall?

i hang mine so they are about 2.5- 3' from the wall to the center of the bulb depending if I'm stretching the light. If I have enough I put the bulbs 2.5 feet apart and from the wall. that's bulb to bulb not reflector edge to edge.

How are you arranging the lights? In an X? You'd get a really nice 8 x 8 foot print from just 4 lights in a square. And depending on how you're growing...you could vert the 5th 1k dead center and get real silly.

That's pretty close to scale for an 11.5 x 9.5 room...since one of my rooms is that size :D
