Lightproofing my cabinet!

So I've got a 400w HPS on the way, Ive assembled the cabinet I plan on using. I'm only going to do 2-3 plants for some personal bud. My issue is my cab NEEDS to be lightproof, and I'm trying to plan out an idea before I go out and buy anything expensive.. The Cab is 3 feet wide, 2 feet deep and I'd say approx. 6 feet high. The issue is that it has the two doors that meet in the middle..

My first thought had been some of that weatherproofing foam tape (I'm not 100% sure that that's the name..) and just tape it all the way around the front, and then have the door close on top of it.. But I'm not convinced that the tape will allow enough room for the doors to close properly..

I also have access to alot of black polyethylene, I was curious, if you were to paint the poly, would it be as reflective as the paint on wood? In that case I was thinking about just velcroing a sheet right across the front, and then just take it off whenever working with the plants..

I can upload some pictures tonight when I get home.. for now I can give a basic picture of the cabinet I have, I haven't done any duct holes or anything, so it's pretty much the same thing

I'm using the velcro poly method its meh... I'm going to try weatherstripping and door sweeps from home depot and yes poly works just as well as white paint if not better.

What I was wondering was, If I have access already to just black poly, is it possible to paint the one side white and get decent reflection?

God I'm cheap.. just seems like a waste to buy a 10' roll online when I only need enough to cover the door

Hey I built a box almost the same as yours mine was 2 feet by 4 feet by 6 feet with doors that met in the middle. First off drill one of your doors shut (you can work fine with the one door). then get some duct tape and line the very edge of the wood(the 1/2inch or whatever thickness) tape it so the overhang is inside the cabinet. then fold over the overhang onto itselfso it makes a "L" shaped lip. Cool idea! I think I may use this with the plastic door behind as well, theres just way too many light leaks around the sides.

Has anyone ever painted one side of black poly white? How well does it reflect? If its not worth doing, ill be ordering some panda tonight.

So my light came today And to my disappointment, with the cooltube it is too long to fit width-wise in the cab, so I've got to put it on a bit of a diagonal. As you can see, the back of the cab hasnt been attached yet, its just cardboard, so I can cut a hole to accommodate the end of the light.

What im wondering, is there any tape that is safe to put against heated glass? Once I cut that hole in the back, ill probably tape around it so that theres no cardboard resting on the glass. Would alum tape or duct tape be fine?

Also, do you think the intake of the cooltube will be in an alright location? Probably will have an oscillating fan in the back right pointing up towards it.

Lastly, would it be okay to have the inline fan (coming in the mail) outside of the box? I was thinking about ducting to the right of the cab and just mount the fan to the outside of the cab.

So... to save problems with lightproofing the back side, and having trouble with moving the light up and down if I went through the back, I was thinking this is my only option..

Does your grow light need to be level? As you can see, its still fairly centered, and I have room to bring the light up another foot when the plants get bigger. I have a 4" vortex on the way, will that be sufficient for the space?
