Lighting Situation

Ok well Im growing 2-3 buds because I would like to smoke some unique buds but can never find any. I was wondering what light should I use for all around growth(veg flowering etc..). The problem is the area where it will be is going to be fairly small and hot! So I was going to use MH or HPS but the increase in temp may be to much as well as the electrical increase. I have yet to find any high power flourescents or anywhere to plug them in to.:peace:

hey there,
I have a 125watt sull spectrum compact fluorescent with a reflector that I think was made by sunleaves or hydrofarm. If your growing plants under one light i recomend at least a 200watt. Fluoro's don't grow the best bud but they stay pretty cool. Plants would need to be kept small as well, flower at ~10". Blueberry is a tough grow for beginers and the yield isn't very big. Good luck!

Well I can use more than one light But I meant one lighting source like Flourescent, HPS , MH etc... . HOw would maybe 4 125 watt flourescents work for 2-3 plants? THe problem with the HPS is the HEAT and maybe electric bill? If any one can give any input on how much it would maybe increase for a 250 system? Aslo when using flourescents Should i go with the T5 or the CFL

So I decided to use flourescents. Should I be using 2 types of bulbs 1 for the blue(veg growth) and one red (flowering) or put half and half on a t5 fixture

i would just use a 250 hps. they dont make hardly any heat and you can still yield a decent amount. but if fluorescents is the way you want to go (not recommended) i would go with 3 blue and 1 red for veg, and 3 red and one blue for flowering. there are 4 sockets on a t5 right?

to crikit and widow:
hydrohuts kick ass if you arent growing in your closet. and theyre only $200 and come with hangers for lights, a hanging system for a carbon filter, an exhaust vent in the top, a power box, and 2 or 3 light-tight intakes.

You should definitely go for a hps set up, if not now u will eventually. Bulb choice is Upto you but I always go for the super hps/red bulbs. I also use a hybrid 600w hps/mh dual arc bulb for veg.

I used a 250 watt flouro pluse 4 - 125 watters under hydro farm wings 3 were 27k and it was tough to get decent buds. One 400 watt hps ate those 5 fluorescent lights for lunch. Your electric bill even running 3 hps lights won't be enough to fret about. The heat was delt with with a cool tube and a small fan that fit into the end. I used a hair dryer in the mean time. 1 hps under a cool tube hood will fully bud 2 plants. If you hang it vertical you can do 5-6 plants under a 20" box fan
