lighting for germination

OK, so i have soaked my seeds for about 24 hours in a moist paper towel, i just transfered them to soil. Should I have light on them or should it be dark? Seems like a dumb question just havent been able to find the answer

i posted the exact same thing a few days ago, what i got was about 50yes/50no, its personal preference. as long as they are damp, warm, dark (under soil) they will grow. i left my light on to keep them warm and it seems to be working (dug up 1 seed just to check if there was change and the root was definitley growing bigger). hope that helps you out, good luck on your grow

if u dug them , u can accidently hit them and might shock them . meaning they will either stop growing (if its sever enough) or later on might turn into a hermi .

at the germination phase the seeds are EXTREMELY sensitive , u need to handle them with extra care.

as for the lights - its totaly a personal decision as there are no evidance for seeds needing light at germination .
turning the lights on during germination does has its adventage
a) keeping warm
b) when they sprout they will have light.
c) lazyness - if u put the light on timer during germination , u dont need to check every couple of hours to see if they have sprouted.

theres no problem on keeping the lights off during germination , just remember to check after a day or two , every couple of hours to see if u got a sprout.

decide on when u want ur lights on ie, day or night. day is better cos no-one sees ur lights on at night. so turn them on early in the morning and off at what ever times u are doing. i did mine at 18/6, saves power.

doesn't matter when u planted them just put them under lghts when it morning, imo

I just stick 'em in and turn the lights on 24 hours. At least they'll have something to look at as soon as they break the surface.
