hello i have got some seeds and im watin for them to crack and i just wanted to no once they do crack is a 600 watt light to strong to put them under ????

its not if you have the light far away :)

then bring the light down closer as the plants get bigger,you dont want it to be stretched if you keep the light up high

nice one mate i was worried the light would be to strong is there an averge time it takes to grow from seed to the end ?

imo..yes , to intense for seedlings ( unless you are experienced and can read them)... you will either heat stress if too close or they will stretch too much if lights are to far...i use flurs/or cfl's for seedlings, they can be much closer and we can control the stretch so they are not so lanky, then once they are growing and get their true leaves, 3-5 spear leaves, then they can go under the Hid. peace

While both are correct answers, lime73 has the right concept.

In nature, Spring sun light is not as intense either lumen- wise or heat wise. Probably a max of 70* directly over the seedlings is good until you get the second leaf sets. Also be very careful with Ambient Heat. Vent or fan to vent

i hit mine with a 1000 watt ive used floros 400 600 and 1000 to start them under it dont really matter what ur wattage is it matters how close ur light is to ur plant with a 1000 the nodes stay so compact
