Light too big for tent?

I will tell you this....I have a 2x4 tent 6 feet tall. I have a passive intake a 120 cfm exhaust and a ocsillating fan blowing on my 150w HPS. (ballast is outside of tent).
Area that the tent is in is approx. 60f. With light and both fans on my room stays at 75/76f faithfully. I'd say your going to need some massive fans or cooling. Hope that might help.

unless you plan on growing all your plants in small pots and using barely any veg time you may be able to do it.... 1000 watts need a bit of space between the light and the plants .....i'm assuming your tent is 5 to 6 feet tall. It's a bit overkill IMO. but i could be wrong.
I think you'd just be selling yourself short. In a bigger space 1000 watts would allow for more plants and better yeild.
If you do do it.... make sure you exhaust the light properly or temps will rise and rise..
I only speak from the experience of running a 600 in my space. It works well but i can clearly see where with more space i'd be able to fit more plants under the light.

well I have a 400w in there now but I wanted to do a scrog to max the yields up a bit and I figured what better way than to put in a 1000watter

i'm curious to see what others say about this. but remember you can only fit so much in that 2x4 space

i think a 600 is perfect for the space. Im no expert though ....i'm sure someone will chime in to say i'm wrong and it can be done

heya,, I have had to down grade from 600w to 400w(HPS) in my 1m x 1m x 2m grow tent,,had vent fan, osclating fan, swamp cooler,,and all wouldnt get it below 80(F),and this was over the winter,so in summer I would of had a major problem, so take from that what you will,,but with smaller lights you can get um closer to canopy. anyhow take it easy.

Do you use a 600Watter? If so what kind of yields you pulling? I know it depends on strain but on average what do you pull with a 600W?

in my 2x4x5 tent i have a 600 watt cooltube exhausted with a 6 inch inline (545 cfm) overkill. I usually can fit about 3 plants in 3-4 gallon pots vegged for a month and a half-2 months.
My yield so far has been roughly 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 per plant .... the light gets as close as 5 inches away from some of the tops. here's an idea

I did for about 3 months,,have a small perpetual thing on the go,,600w was great and I was vegging for 1 month and no topping/lst, was gettin about 21-25 grams (dried cured) per plant,,thats skunk1, im soil,1month veg, roughly 50-55days flower,,if that helps,,but my grams per watt per 30days was quite off as I only have 4 plants under it at once,(thats under the 600w) and I found that I was wasting space,so not getting as many plants under the 600w as I shoulda or coulda,,its 90,000 intial lumens for a 600w hps,and thats the best lumen to watt ratio of the hps family(If I remember right),,

anyhow starting to rant abity,,
take it easy

I mean even if I were to get .5 gram per watt I would still be doing better than my 400w. I only pulled a QP with a scrog under the 400w.

like i said before a 600 is perfect for it. And like bunnyface said temps can be a problem in a tent with the wrong environment. I'm having the same issues in mine.
also fuck the gram per watt comparison unless your an experienced grower who can push the limits to get a g per watt. I say that based on what you'll pull for your first time under a 600. You may get 1 per watt ... but my theory is is that big plants crammed into a small space will not get you where you want to be if your going for gram per watt.
one other note.... whatever you run .... Don't get a cooltube. the reflectivity sucks. even for such a small space you can see in my pics that the light footprint is poor and will hurt your yield more than anything. This is just my opinon.
But i say if you're ready to upgrade just get the 600 ...it's more than enough light for that space and you won't run into as many problems as you would with a 1000

what hood would you recommend than? I was thinking of getting a cooltube but guess not..... I mean one would think a cool tube would be great for a rectangular tent but guess not.

I run a 1000w in a 4x4x7 and if it wasn't for the cooltube(I know...horrible spread of light) and 550cfm fan....there would be no way I could pull it off(and the fact that it's in a cool basement).......you might want to settle for a 400-600 in that little space!!!
