Light Swapping for energy savings

Has anyone every tried using LED's or T5's in place of 1000 watt bulbs for a couple hrs on each side of the light cycle? My energy has been creeping up into the 700$ a month range and I was thinking of hanging a T5 6 bulb next to each one of my 1000's and swapping them for 1 1/2 hrs on each side of the 18/6 and for an hour on each side of 12/12. I would save 4000-6000 watts per day or 180,000 per month. Here in the wonderful state of Cali we get charged .50 cents per 1000 watts used. So basically I would trim around 80-100 bucks a month off my bill . I figure it would save but I wouldn't want to sacrifice my end result.

I use LEDs and HID , you need quality LEDs to match a HID output and at least half the actual draw, I would suggest Area 51 LEDs, they are the highest quality on the market right now. www.a51led.com to mimic a 1000w hps you would need at least 4 of the RW150's.

¢.50 per KWH?

You need to switch to a night time smart plan and have a new smart meter installed if you don't already. If you can move all your usage to primarily times after 6:00pm your situation might get some savings.

PG&E caps at ¢.39 on the third tier my man, are you getting power transmitted from New Jersey . . . from ConEd?

Your numbers seem a little inflated on cost KWH.

Reduce veg time until they run on 16/8, there is a bit of savings that is easily attainable. Who knows if the output will be reduced though, only one way to see.

@RM3 uses T5's exclusively throughout his entire grow, even in flower. Perhaps he can shed some light on that for you.

I run 1000 watts of T5 in flower and 400 watts in veg my monthly cost is $110 I know because I shut the garden down for a period and that was the difference in my bill
