Light LEVEL UP for my small tent

Hi Folks, my first plant in my new tent is at the 3rd week, it is going well, but i'm already thinking about level up the lights for my next girl.

My Current Setup is:
  • 40x40x120cm secret jardin tent
  • CFL Agro 5U-125W-2100K (5600 LUMEN) for both Veg and Bloom phases.
  • Carbon Filter +extractor + 50W Ventilation
  • 18/6 Light/Dark
  • Seed --> Royal Critical Automatic
I heard a lot about how my crop will be probably quite small due to the Light that i'm using, which can be anyway a good point to start from.

Considering the small size of my tent 40x40x120cm, what type of light you suggest me to optimize the yeld?

I read around that is highly recommended something like TS600 for small tents (eg Mars Hydro TS600) but not sure if a LED can be a good solution for such small space (issue with heating and so on), anyone of you use or knows these lamps?

What you think can be a good/best solution for my current setup?

My main goal is to optimize the result in terms of quantity but not double up my bills, and also something that is safe to use in such a small tent.

I may also check if i can grow two plants instead of one, but not sure I can fit them.

Thanks as usual for the hints guys!!

Ok first i would want a bigger tent. That is VERY small, but i understand if stealth is required.

With such a small tent, I would want a dimmable light that can be put close. I wouls look at HLG120s or HLG132s. Cheap, plenty of spread, dimmable, high efficiency for low heat emmision.

With a bigger tent I would get a couple bar lights that are waterproof and dimmable. They are incredibly safe and easy to use.

Okay so why around they say led are not optimal for small tent? I thought it was for the heating, but if not what else?

I can't get a bigger tent, stealth and space, it's in the attic so space is extremely limited, maybe I can find something 40x60or80x120 but I did not find any till now...

@ComfortCreator is it a led light, right? do I need something extra than a normal plug for a dimmable light? Also where can I find it? I'm in Europe and on Amazon it does not show up..a link would be great! :D

Did anybody ever used the TS600?

Yes LED. A normal plug, it is identical to normal lighting it just happens to be ultra efficient and high intensity.

Your tent is so small, any light that requires that it be placed up high is not useable. You need a very high efficiency light to light it enough and still be very close to the plants.

My suggested lights were HLG, google a HLG QB120, it will show you many good choices.

I am not sure what you can get or how easily, Im sure some other folks on this site that live by you will know of some local sources.

A dimmed LED light gives off very little heat.
At 100% most LEDs are very hot and require some form of cooling, often a heatsink, fans or both. Lights can be bought and used for either or both purposes. If the attic gets cold, a light on full power will help heat the tent. If it gets too hot, a dimmed light and/or one with a lot of spread can be used at a lower heat setting and help keep temps down.

I’ve never used the TS600, but I have a TSW2000 that is very nice. For the money I would buy 2x 240w Chinese QB setups now, but it has been a great light.

LED is the best option for smaller tents... otherwise you end up with heating or output compromises.

Okay thanks guys, I ll check what I can find on Amazon and post it here to double check with u, just want to be sure to not throw money in the bin..

For the moment thsts what I got, first grow, critic automatic, 23 days from germination, LST applied to lower the main stem, getting light slightly closer, temp 25c humidity 50%, 18/6.

Still feeding with grow supplements, not yet passed to bloom food..

Anything u would change?

Thank u so much! I'm go to get it straight away! U think it's the best solution considering the size of my tent?
Your into growing right, so the way I look at it, is that screw the small tent & get something that you can grow at least 2 plants in (3 or 4 better).
Never grow 1 plant, if if fails you've wasted all your time & effort.
It takes 3 months at least for a pot plant to mature, so for the same basic cost for energy & nutes grow 3.
In for a penny, in for a pound right?
If your gonna do it, do it right :)
Good luck :)

I couldn’t agree more. Purchase everything with the final goal of a larger tent. Even if you purchase separate pieces. Growing one plant is more anxiety and stress when something starts happening.
