Light Leakage...

So in my setup I have a vegg place and a flowering place. In my flowering space I have a 400watt HPS. I tried to hookup good ventilation but it's really hard getting all that hot air out to keep the right temp. I have to leave the door cracked with a boxfan blowing in their all the time.
My question is this...
What happens if light leaks out? What really is wrong with light leakage? Will my babies still bud or what? I read that it impacts the plants progress. What if I have no choice but to leave the door open at all times?

Here's my setup... A shelled out Ent Center.
Vegg on top. Flowering on the bottom.

Light leakage will cause stretching man. Your plants will stretch in search for the light that is leaking. You will also have a problem when you go to flower. When you flower, you must give them 12 hours of UNITURPTED darkness. I would get a hole saw and cut a small hole in your door and install a vent with a flap to allow air in and trap the light as well. Good Luck.

Huh? Maybe I'm confused here....

Are you worried about light leaking OUT when the lights are on, or light leaking IN during lights off? Light leaking out isn't a problem at all unless you're trying to keep things stealth. The problem is if light gets in during lights-off time. That can cause hermies and underdeveloped buds.

My issue is light leaking OUT. I read that it could be bad for light to leak out. No, when the light are off they are in total darkness...

So your sayin it's OK to have light leaking OUT when the lights are on... no worries?

No worries at all. Just keep in mind that if you aren't home when the lights go out and you left the door open then you could have a problem because light would be getting in. So you're creating more work for yourself by having to open and close the door manually. A good exhaust fan could remedy this problem. You don't wanna be stressed every time you leave the house that you won't be home in time to put them to bed. But as long as you stay on top of things you'll be fine.
