Light height

Hi all can anyone advise at what height I should have my lights.

Should they be slightly about the canopy or should thy be lower say the bottom of the bulb just abovethe pots.

Running 2 600w hps

2 feet above anyway.
Put your hand between the plants and the light, if it's hot on your hand it's too hot for the plant.

yeah pretty much as close as possible, and like hugo said if its to hot for your hand its to hot for the plant

you don't want the plants to be below the light, i tried having a plant directly underneath instead of a fan, it didn't grow at all.
unless you have the plants quite far away (which with lots of plants is not necessarily a bad thing for overall yield), it is hard to get the whole plant soaked in light. i try to get the light as high as i can without any escaping... if i can't see the light, it means that the plants are copping it.

at the very least like 12 inches i would say but with that much light probably a little higher
