Let's try this again. (Ripper Seeds- Zombie Kush & Fuel OG)

Well its been awhile since I stopped posting on rollitup due to me just being too busy with other things but I missed it and I am back. Let's try this again. :)

Since I last posted about 2 years ago, I have continued to grow different strains in search of something special and I have found a couple strains from Ripper Seeds that have impressed the hell out of me. Zombie Kush and Fuel OG are both great strains and different enough from each other to give me some variety in my daily smoking.

The Zombie Kush is a hybrid indica/sativa and one of the most flavorful strains I have ever tried, it is a real terpene monster. It has a sort of floral/perfumey/kushy taste. Everyone I smoke it with usually comment on the taste immediately after the first toke. It's a real crowd pleaser. Zombie is a shorter plant that produces the densest buds I have ever grown....rock hard trichome covered purple nugs, it's an all around winner. The only downfall to this strain is potential for bud rot from the density of the buds but this is easily avoided with good air circulation and venting, especially when the lights are off. Great strain but I do prefer this one in the late afternoon and evening as it can make you a little sleepy if you smoke it all day long.

The Fuel OG is also pretty tasty with the dominant flavors being evergreens and diesel fuel. Because it's mostly sativa, you can smoke this one all day long and I do, it's amazing and has very little burn out. However because it is a sativa, the stretch will at least double what the plant size was at the flip to 12/12. I love trimming this one, nice hard buds with very few leaves.

This grow I am going to grow four plants 2x Zombie and 2x Fuel OG. This keeps the grow small enough for the wife to look after when I go away for work but big enough to keep me permanently in good weed. Also 4 plants is the legal limit in Canada......not that I care about that but my wife does as she is a bank manager and cannot risk getting busted since she requires security clearances done on her regularly.

I am using a 4x4 tent. I hate this thing...a screen door has fewer light leaks than this thing does but I'll be building a proper grow room very soon, hopefully. I ended up covering all the seams with tuc-tape and then wrapped the entire tent in a double layer of black plastic garbage bags and then put a layer of blankets over that. It looks pretty ridiculous but works for the time being.

The lighting will be a 125w clf for the seedling stage followed by a 1000w mh for veg + first week or so of flower and a 1000w Hortilux Hps for remaining weeks of flower. The hood is air cooled with air from my carbon filter and exits outside.

Plants will be in 5 gallon air bags with Pro-mix HP and lots of perlite will be added to that. I like to water every two days in veg and early flower so I need good drainage. When I get later into flower to spread out my watering to every third day and dry out the roots a bit as I find this helps with trichome and terpene production.

Temps will be kept at 80-85f for veg and 65-70f for flower. I am pretty anal about my temps as my top priority is terpene preservation and since terpenes are basically volatile gasses, they can start to rapidly evaporate at ~72f and higher so temps under 70f are a must in my grow room.

The food is Mega Crop single part dry cannabis food with tap water and ph adjusted if needed. I know tap water is not ideal but it is very low ppm and the plants don't seem to mind it. I do have plans to get an R/O machine but that will come when I build the new grow room in the future. The Mega Crop is a food I won in a contest a few years ago here on rollitup. I was skeptical about it at first but this stuff works very well and is super easy to use...it's one part. I always over water by about 20-30% as I feel this helps flush out older unused salts that might build up around the roots. Also I only feed every second watering. I find this helps the weed out a lot in taste and burn-ability. I also flush for 7-10 days and use Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish on the first day of flushing and always get a white ash.

And that's my routine for this grow in a nut-shell.

Comments are more than welcome but arguments are not.

Day 1 (July 08, 2020)
Placed 2x Zombie kush seeds between damp paper towel in an inflated zip-loc sandwich bag and placed it on my satellite receiver.

Day 2
Both seeds cracked and 1/2" tap root was poking out. Wanted to wait one more day before planting.

Day 3
Totally forgot about seedlings.....oops.

Day 4
Opened zip-loc seen first set of leaves and 2" tap root, frantically planted them in 4" pots.

Day 6
Seedlings have started first real leaf and are about 1.5" tall.

I will be starting the two Fuel OG seeds two weeks after the Zombie Kush as I need extra veg time on the zombie so the final height of the zombie and fuel are closer after the Fuel OG stretches.

Day 7

Not much to report today. Plant growth looks the same as yesterday, still small with no stretch thanks to the closely placed 125w cfl.

I would imaging the seedlings are focusing on root growth right now.

One more week to go until I germinate the two Fuel Og seeds.

Day 8

First feeding of Mega Crop. I know the rule of thumb is to not feed seedlings until about three weeks in but since I am using Promix Hp and perlite as my medium, I know there isn't anything in their for them to suck up. So I like to give them a tiny bump.

My water tested at 18ppm, andded food to 78ppm, basically 60ppm of food added, like I said tiny bump. The ph started at 7.95 and after food was added the ph was 5.97, good enough for these girls. No ph adjustments were made.

As you can see from the picture the soil is looking pretty dry. I try to do this intentionally at the beginning and end of my grows. I find at the beginning it stimulates root growth since the roots must search for water as the medium dries and at the end of a grow it simulates a drought causing the plant to protect the buds with more and/or bigger trichomes.

So this happened, my daughter went into the garage where I keep my grow tent to smoke a joint at 11pm lastnight and figured she would charge her phone and unplugged my light to do so!

Off for 17 fucking hours! I am so pissed off right now.

I am just hoping it's so early in the grow cycle that the seedlings recover and don't hermi in the future.

FML!!!!

Day 10

Well now that the great black out of 2020 is over, i'll continue to grow out these seedlings. On wednesday, I will germinate the fuel og.

I have only grown fuel og once but the more it cures, the more impressed I get with it. I am really happy to be growing it again.

I will definetly be ordering the zombie kush and fuel og from Ripper seeds again.

If anyone reading this decides to give ripper seeds a try, I suggest waiting for one of their sales. I ordered my last bunch when they were having the black friday sale and got 50% off.

I also tried their 100% indica called Black Valley and another sativa callerd Sour Ripper. They were ok but definetly a step or two down from the fuel and zombie.

Day 11

Nothing to report again.

Seedlings haven't gotten any taller. I think they are just growing roots and foliage right now. The leaves have gotten bigger.

Day 13

Well foliage growth is starting to pick up the pace a little. Fed the plants again, this time I gave them about 180ppm at a ph of 5.95.

It is definetly looking like I am going to get two different phenos. Maybe I'll end up with something special. :bigjoint:

My grow journal probably isn't the best place to be asking that question but it's not a big deal.

As for your plant, it looks Male from what I can see. Kinda hard to tell as I can't clearly zoom in on what I think are the male pollen sacs.

On that sex note, I forgot to mention all of my seeds are feminized so hopefully I will get all females.

Day 14

The two zombies are really picking up the pace now. I think the foliage is just about doubling everyday now. They look healthy and don't look to be lacking anything.

The Mega Crop nutrients are amazing. I used to run Remo Nutrients, I really liked them but I can buy a 3 year supply of Mega Crop for the same price as what Remo nutrients were costing my for a single grow and honestly I can't tell the difference in growth, yield, potency or taste.

I will be germinating the two Fuel Og tomorrow morning. I hope this gives the zombie a good enough head start to be comparable in height after the fuel do their stretch at the flip to 12/12.

Last grow I had to prop the zobmie up by atleast 12-14 inches so the canopy would be uniform.

Well it's been two weeks since I germinated my zombies. Now it's time to germinate the Fuel Og.

Day 15

I figured I would raise my light a little since the nodes are literally stacked directly on top of each other. I need to streatch these girls out a bit.

Other than that not much to say, I guess they look good. Lol

Day 21 Zombie/Day 7 fuel

Just a reminder, I start counting days from the time I open the seed pack to start germinating so it may look like it is taking a long time to grow these seedlings out as not much happens in the first week.

As for the plants, its time to get agressive with the nutes on the Zombie. I'll start with 400ppm and bump it up 100ppm per watering until I get to 800-1000ppm.

The fuel og seedlings will get 60-100ppm next watering then just water until I can bump them up to full strength. This strain is a very heavy nute eater.
