That was from the grow light express place, you might find a better price but, they
offer 99$ flat rate shipping if someone was going to get a bunch of them. I don't remember
if I saw them for less somewhere else but, with shipping this was the cheapest I found on a big
order.

It looks like hydrostore guy is telling the truth. Usio might be better.

The GAVITA Pro 1000 is the first 240 Volt electronic ballast that powers the professional Philips GreenPower 1000W 400V EL (electronic) Double Ended lamp. This lamp has the highest PAR light output, improved spectrum and the best light maintenance (>95% PAR light over one year of use). Being the most efficient 1000W horticultural lamp available and the only lamp specifically developed for electronic ballasts this is the 1000W lamp of choice for Dutch professional greenhouse growers. The GAVITA Pro 1000 is available as a complete fixture with the highly efficient professional HortiStar HR 96 1000 DE reflector or as a remote ballast. Being completely closed and solid state (no fans) with extremely low heat dissipation the remote ballast can be mounted close to your lamps, enabling safe and easy installation. Having your ballast close to your lamp reduces the amount of EMI (RF interference). Both ballasts are adjustable to 600/660/750/825/1000/1150 watt, enabling them to drive a wide range of EL lamps and boost them 10 or 15%, creating the highest output in the market.

[h=3]Features & Benefits[/h]
  • Full fixture only for 1000W 400V Double Ended EL lamps
    • No acoustic resonance
    • Up to 8% more grow light
    • Light maintenance after 5000 hrs > 95%
  • Available as full fixture or remote ballast
  • Adjustable to 600/660/750/825/1000/1150 watt
  • System design and concept by GAVITA
  • Sealed housing (Class I) with Gore-Tex ventilation plug
  • Microprocessor controlled
  • Professional UV resistant rubber wiring
  • Very low heat dissipation and optimal cooling
  • Driver efficiency at full power 95-96%
  • UL Listed

OK. I called green finger garden supply in st ignace.
He said it the light isn't a gavida.
It's a gavida hood ($100 ea) with a Ushio high-lux double-ended bulb. (or something along those lines.)
He says the gavidas are 400 volt and these others run off reg. 1000w ballasts.
He says the bulbs retail at about $170 and he can do them for me at $130.
I keep repeating he says....
He says with the gavida hoods and those bulbs you need to be 38 inches above the plant cuz they are so fucking bright.
They have brand new AC/DC hoods that are air cooled. That cost about $320 apiece and $250 for me, buying a few.
With those hoods they are great at cooling the bulb and the plants can me more like 16" off the plants.
He told me several times the gavida hoods are fantastic for the price.
I haven't researched any of this at all. But he will have two sets for me on Wednesday in the Menominee store.
He said there are a few other brands that are a little cheaper for the bulbs, but I am not really interested in those.
So it's looking at close to $800 for 2 ushio high-lux double ended bulbs in 2 of the ac/dc air cooled hoods.
These are brand new on the market, sunlight is the distributor.
Now maybe I should look some shit up, eh.
I just dabbed the first time I read this, my reading comprehension thought you were getting ripped. lol
I think you are getting the better deal now. Keep up us posted with how you like things if you can. I may
be following suit.

Not sure if I am or not. This guy owns a store about an hour and a half from me in one direction and another one that's two hours in the other direction.
Shortly he is opening up a store by me, from what he told Belle. This is his shot to make a customer or lose a few.
With the cheap gavida hoods they would be $230 apiece hood & bulb. I don't have the luxury of putting my light 3 feet over my canopy though.
So that's costing the extra. I will keep you posted though. I'll put the ghost train haze #1 under them that I'm journaling.

I am just showing the corporate big wigs at gavita my spamming abilities. If ushio needs my services, we can talk.

You want a gavita Rrog? Your wife need 10?

bongsmilie :-P How's the heat on those? I have closed rooms planned, but will slow circulate air with carbon filters. I don't want that to also be my air conditioning, and would rather not have an ACm when LEDs run cheap and cool. Startup cost ain't bad 'cause I build 'em.

They make all your plants look all pink and homo'ish though. I like my plants to be no-homo. lol

They run a little hotter then most, you would need ac in the summer months for sure. How much do your
kits run you? I have heard led's work really good for vegging.

These guys do comparison testing with grow gear and review products, they seem pretty legit.

Heres one with bulbs.

^^^saw this video too and it convinced me not to try the Solistek and to stick with hortis super hps. They have been good to me so far and until I'm given a better reason to switch, I'm sticking with them. I usually order off eBay and get 1k's for about $68.

Yeah the solistek bulbs were pretty middle of the road in this test, but they came out on top in the ballast testing that was done in another video.

I picked up a few Matrix and I'm diggin those too, do you have a link to said video please? I can get the solisteks cheaper than the horti's, but I need some more persuasion before I make the switch.
