"Let's go Brandon" is the rallying cry of the defeated

I am slowly waking up to the degree to which I grew up in a world where white privilege was an unquestioned axiom. It’s not fun to realize how skewed my view of society has been The whole time I considered myself perfectly egalitarian, and it would be easy to mount some “not my fault” excuse based on typical fallacies like the one you pointed out. It requires a certain humility to embrace the suck and work on it.

Posts like these are hard to write. I’m always checking for residual prejudice. I’m not sure I’m not displaying some.
Racism is like sin, often the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We have all been subconsciously conditioned by our life experience and overcoming this with compassion and reason are difficult for many. However empathy leads to compassion and that can compel us to action, provided fear does not stand in the way. The George Floyd protests gave me hope, for often the young white protesters outnumbered the black people, so exposure to other peoples in media and commercials can lead to empathy. Unlike previous civil rights protests, younger white people participated en mass, this and coming demographic changes gives me long term hope for America.

I am not very empathetic. I have to do the work and reason through it, and remember the conclusion well enough to start implementing it.

Much has been written and researched about prejudice within races, apparently the darker your complexion the less likeable and trustworthy you are perceived. Examples, Cubans among the Spanish, Sicilians among Italians, and throughout the Asian subcontinent. Apparently racism, prejudice is as much nature as nurtured.
Edit: further studies required for orange skin

Well something drives you towards compassionate, generous and wise behavior, your mind does not seem too troubled by greed, hated or delusion. Reason is most often used to rationalize our feelings and emotions, which drive our perspective and filter it. Something is holding open your mind and not allowing your perspective of reality to become distorted and severely filtered, both consciously and unconsciously. People give reason and logic too much credit, a brain is useless without a heart.

That is kind but incorrect. My battle with the three unenlightened states is just beginning.
Thank you though for checkmarking my public face.

On another topic, meditation is something I’ve never successfully done. Is there a procedure-based “meditation for engineers” method to which you can link? I do very poorly with the subjective, and it has been suggested that I’m on the mild end of the autism spectrum. So I’m looking for something with written procedure and a way to self-test that I cannot subconsciously subvert.

It is and that's why armies who look alike wear uniforms, people will do things in a uniform they wouldn't dream of doing as a civilian, it reinforces tribalism. We humans are social animals, but we can turn off our empathy when dealing with the perceived other, it makes them easier to kill. People are often lazy and often pigeonhole things because they are too lazy or stupid to think things through.

Most men would like to fuck everything in a dress, but we constrain ourselves from mating like dogs in the street, we don't need to go with our instinctive drives, we have a choice, and the choice is the essence of our humanity.

I'm pretty sure military uniforms are a thing for cost effectiveness, first and foremost. Putting everyone in Govt issue BDU's is cheaper than giving everyone a gift card to GAP for some cargo pants.

You most likely are on the autism spectrum many engineers and scientists are, but it's a way of being and not a pathological state. Most people with autism have trouble processing emotions and mindfulness meditation can grow those parts of the brain that process our emotions over a surprisingly short period of time. The two basic forms are concentration and insight, concertation practices lead to altered mental states and dropping attachments and insight or mindfulness can help us to work out our bugs. I think you would do well with concentration and should focus more on insight, both are the same except with insight, there we allow phenomena to arise and observe it.

Meditation is exercise and it works the same way and it takes about as long to get into shape 8 weeks. If you follow a program like below, you will experience profound changes in your perspective of reality and a deep sense of emotional stability among a host of other things. You will definitely be happy and more at peace for sure, MBCT is the premier treatment for depression these days, drugs are a stop gap, for most mindfulness is the cure.

I'm a science guy and everything I said is backed up by science, my experience and that of millions of others, along with fMRI data. Here is the modern way to learn about mindfulness meditation and begin a practice, it's evidence based. To go further check out secular Buddhism, it attracts many educated people with a scientific outlook, it's a system of mental training, not really a religion for those in the west.
If this is a bit much, then just do the breath meditation and perhaps a body scan in bed before sleep. like exercise regularity is important.

Try it, it's quite the ride, almost like drugs!

Not according to military psychology, it makes a tribe, plus mass manufacture makes it easy.

This fuckin guy. Basically too big of a pussy to say "Fuck you" to the president, so he used the zany lil catchphrase instead. As if it were any less insulting.
It's a power play. He says "let's go Brandon" and then says he was just kidding and laughs. Nobody is fooled. Not you, not I, not Biden. He's laughing at us and there is nothing we can do. He knows he's safe and we all know he just thumbed his nose at us.. He lives in a shithole of a corner of Oregon filled with people like him. He owned the libs and his buddies are all clapping him on the back. The adult thing to do is walk away. Let him have his meaningless win. We know what he said and it wasn't a joke.

Oh so its just the typical giving the finger to authoritie.....

I see stickers on people's vehicles "Fuck Trudeau" I guess it's the same thing.
Ask them who they voted for, our idiots are not quite as stupid as American conservatives. I dunno who would have done better, not that better could have been done, but none of the other parties were up to it. He has a minority government so he's got to be careful and will be held to account for any fuck ups by parliament.

Anyone care to elaborate this "let's go brandon" meaning to a Canadian who's not really into politics ?
Guy named Brandon wins a nascar race. The crowd starts chanting while he’s being interviewed on live tv. They are clearly chanting “fuck joe Biden” but the announcer, instead of ignoring the hillbillies, says the crowd is chanting “let’s go Brandon”

it doesn’t take much to get red necks worked up. It’s only 3 words (small ones at that) so it became the chant of racists. I think it started at Talladega
