Lets get dirty

im a little less than 2 weeks into 12/12 on these same genetics/seeds
lemon OGK (DNA) x Satori f2 (Mandala seeds)

heres where im at on the breeding project

I kept 1 OGK #18 x Satori f2 male
I kept the male that rooted clones the fastest because the original ogk#18 (rev prevda) cut was slow to clone and the satori are fast cloners

the satori is crazy healthy and vigorous short sativa leaning plants with awesome structure and good yields and smells like sweet mint
http://rollitup.org/t/satori-f2-x-querkle-male-project.930071/

the lemon OGK (ogk#18 x lemon skunk) is also off spring of the same OGK #18 bred by DNA
and this particular select pheno was the only heavy ogk dominant and its extremely dense flowers

so im going to cross the male (ogk#18 x SA f2)
back to the lemon OGK

my hope is that the satori infusion will help provide better structured plants with thicker stalks that can hold there own weight without having to support every cola
the satori is also a very frosty plant known thru testing for having high THC levels at like 23%

but im hoping to keep the rock hard dense OG buds and stink

To do this week you'll need to toss down a lot of beans and run them all through flower, while carefully labeling each one and keeping a clone of it. The only people I know with those kinds of resources are commercial facilities. Otherwise, you're relying on luck.

yes
i understand luck will play a large roll

im hoping (fingers crossed) as long as i use good genetics i can get something nice even thou it might take me forever to get thru the quantity of seeds required to do it

the good news is i feel very confident in my using th satori male as a stud... over the years ive grown over 100 of my F2 seeds and have yet to find a dog with all the seeds producing beauties and only a few phenos ...

then back cross or in breed back to the mother to narrow down the lineage

one thing im doing to increase my odds

im putting 4 plants in a #20 gallon pot and vegging them less time to help increase my odds at finding a keeper

the ones i have going now are all showing nice shape but its too soon to get a read on density or odor

ive gotten real good at identifying plant sex early so i don't mind growing from seed until i happen upon something amazing

but honestly im expecting some good looking plants based on what im seeing thus far

ive grown out so many breeder packs and been disappointed so many times by expensive seeds that throw dogs

im betting i can do better than those fuckers

There's a lot of crap out there, no doubt.

this is a picture of the Satori f2 x lemon OG kush

at 21 days into 12/12

the node spacing is great with long colas stacking together
most of the phenos have the satori shape but slightly taller, with nice thick stems
theres more fan leaves on these girls than the lemon og mother which tends to be lanky

these girls have gotten water only and I sprayed them 1x with some micro nute mix

today I top dressed 1/2 cup mix which hopefully feeds them until completion

the nice thing about the satori is even if you stack them close and over crowd them they still wont get stretched out, they'll stack colas no matter what, but they are nute sensitive and don't require much food

the lemon mom on the other had is a very heavy feeder and will yellow out early if I don't pump more food into her than the others

well I found a couple plants with bananas

im pretty sure I caught them early enough

its bad news too cuz they where nicely shaped plants

the only plants that showed this issue was the satori f2 x OGK#18

I cut down 3 plants

so far the other crosses are good so it seems to have come from the DNA 0gk#18 lineage only

for this reason ive gone ahead and eliminated the sa x ogk male plant I was saving for my next cross and I wont be using any of the og18 crosses... it really is a shame because the plants look amazing, likely worth selecting a mother that doesn have the hermie trait issue but I just don't want to add hermie traits to future crosses

that's the bad news...the good news is all the other crosses/phenos look good

so the SA x LK beans are still all showing great promise

I suspect they may run a little longer flowering time than the lemon og mom
likely with a little more sativa influence from the satori

so it looks like I might be better off selecting a male stud from this seed cross for my next cross ad I wont be sing the og#18 for anything in the future breeding

some other bad news, I just heard from another member whom is currently growing the face off
and hes found a couple hermies in his pack
which means if I cross to it theres some risk, and I will need to test run the seeds and watch them close to see if it carrys on to the offspring

it also means the f2 cross might only add to the potential for hermies

I might need to look at finding more stable genetics that bring fire for male studs

I might need to look at something from sensi, maybe black domina

im open to suggestions

males are hard to gauge if there good plants or not or if they throw offspring with desirable traits so my hope is to find males that are stable and throw consistently nice femle plants

that's what I love about the satori

Wonder if seeds supreme has a non feminized version of the chocolate creme i was growing maybe get a male out of that strain it had super tight spacing and was a fast flower plant with high yields.

didn't you say it was lacking in flavor?

I was thinking something leaning more indica

I will look at the chocolate creme again ... ive got a few ganesh seeds from mandala that's also described as chocolate

edit; it looks like it only comes in fem

I think I need to stick with whats worked in the past for me

pairing super stable male genetics with rare fire female cuts
I need to look at stable males that come from seed lines that throw a high number of nice plants and stay away from those that require search for a rare needle in a hay stack

im really thinking about getting something that's closer to a landrace... not a true landrace but something of somewhat true origin and not folklore

and something wit little to no concern about hermie
