Lets Build A New Light

I second the call for a parts list... I've been looking for an affordable (read: not shipped from HK) source for smaller pin fin-style heatsinks.

Nice driver, too. The HLG-240's and 320's certainly are useful.

Pulling up a chair! Where did you get your parts from ? Parts list ? I'm interested in your pot dimmer also.
Good morning,, the dimmer pot is a 100K from amazon prime,, https://www.amazon.com/Linear-Taper-watt-100K-Potentiometers/dp/B0002KRE2U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1479567261&sr=8-4&keywords=100k+potentiometer

I am hoping this makes a good over all 1 light for my box,, a light that is good for veg and flower,, since i grow in a small wardrobe
what has some of interested in these cobs is the over all light spectrum ,, its the only one i have found so far that is very high in blues and reds,,
driven at 1.08 amps the citizens make IMG_0562.JPG

I like where you are going ! I'm in a small 2x2.5 and thinking of 4 COBs just not sure on what to select yet. I saw this and wonder if it could be added "if any benefit" as a 5th and maybe be able to switch it on and off ?

i think 4 cobs in a 2x2 is way more than enought light,, you will probably be doing some dimming with just 4,,
my current cob panel with the cxa3070's is more than enough light for my 3x2,, i have to flip some of the cobs off during veg as it is,,
the reason for this new light build is a wider spectrum of light, and the ablitlity to dim the cobs, so more flexablitly during seed/clone/veg stages, and the ablitly to have just one light for the whole grow, since i only grow in the one box

Why not go with a 90cri, you'll get the same proportion of blue but your red peak will be in a nicer spot. You have an abudance of light so the slight lose in lm/w wont be an issue.

btw, I recently vegged and flowered under citi 3500k 90cri and there was no stretching at all.
i have a very good friend assisting me with this light build, and he chose these citi's
right now i am vegging with my old cxa3070 panel, and they are only 3000k's,, veggin good,,, i am looking forward to the light up grade for my little grow cab

Looking Great!

I also install an inline switch with the Pot. This way I can take the pot out of the circuit with a flip of the switch. This opens the dimming leads and you get a little extra light. Also, none of my pots are ever exactly 100K. Mostly 92-96K.

Here is the mini-switch I use. It's a 3 position switch so you only need 2 leads, one of the outside and the middle.
