I have a how much light question, but first the background... Just finished my first grow; locker set-up with hydro (deep water plus top-feed), 150w HPS and Technaflora nutes. The strain was BF Pineapple Chunk from seed. After a rocky start, only 2 of 8 seeds germinated, the grow went pretty smoothly, despite a few dipshit moves on my part. Wish I could blame the poor germination on Barney's Farm, given their spotty reputation, but more likely it was me going overboard and drowning the seeds. Further evidence to that, I just germinated 8 of 8 for my second grow, including 2 BF PC leftover from the pack I used before, 5 BF LSD and 1 bag seed that I've had for a couple years... Anyhow, topped one plant once and left the other alone. Vegged for 3 weeks and as soon as I switched to 12/12, knew stretch was going to be an issue and ended up pulling both plants down a couple times. Also, because of the limited space and crowding, light was minimal below the canopy, even with a T4 mounted on the side, so I harvested in two stages (at 85 and 100 days) to give the lower buds a little more time and some better light. Had a drying issue probably because of very low humidity (kept the temp at 70F) -- used the locker and after 2 days, the buds were bone dry. Some lemon peels got them re-hydrated pretty easily, tho. Total yield was 112g (dried), so 4 oz exactly, but very fluffy buds. The smoke is sativa and the potency is ok....was hoping to be knocked on my ass by BF's claimed 25% thc, but not so much. As I've seen commented by others, the taste starts off cheesy and then turns citrus, at times distinctly pineapple. A negative for me is that the cheese taste is goat cheese like and I've never been a fan....
So, my question.... I'd like to get more light for the next grow and am wondering how much is too much. I know some say there's no such thing, but for those who do think there's a limit, what's the maximum I should use in a locker with only about 1/4 square meter? I know for a locker, heat is usually a bigger issue, but I'm in the north northeast and mine is in an unheated walk-out basement, so fall thru spring keeping the plants warm enough is the challenge, not the other way 'round.
