Less than a week from harvest, white bugs on top of my soil +rep

So I just noticed this on both of my plants, when I water them it looks like a bunch of white specs floating on the water, and then once the water drains out they burrow back into the soil!

I FUCKING HATE BUGS!

So at first I poured some water on top of the soil so the little mother fuckers would surface, then BAM I hit them with a blow torch (the kind you use for cooking). It was wet and no roots on the surface so no harm :fire:

Then I sprayed the top of my soil with some ortho eco sense 3 in 1...


What the fuck are those critters?

What do I do now?

Do you think they're gone?



I figure ill let the soil dry out pretty good.


So you guys know I've been having some difficulty being with my plants on their light cycle, so I've been watering kind of late. I think that may be a problem, I'm going to stop watering late like I have been.

Wow, I have no idea what those are. Never seen anything like that. Of course, I don't grow in soil, so...

From the research I just gathered they are spring tails and supposedly not harmful to the plants. They live in the moisture, and my plants being wet during the night a few nights in a row probably layed out the red carpet


I'm going to let the soil dry out, and use less water for a few days, and then re apply this eco sense after a while and keep going til harvest.

Fucking bugs, I hate bugs.
 
I just picked up some ortho ecosense insecticidal soap, I'm hoping this will work.

It doesn't have the specific insect but says it kills (among others): aphids, mites, psyllids, scale insects, thrips, wolly aphids and other listed pests.

Can anyone tell me if that will work?
 
I got the remedy! If are growing in a room out out side in soil there are going to be problems with bugs I know I've been doing this for years now and found that all the bug sprays are shit and I have been through them all. There is on step that can help you prevent from getting any bugs. try to get cedar wood and use a corse sand paper. I have to do it by hand and think that its a little easyer because a sander will create to much air movement. Once you get a pile of cedar dust take a glass jar and pour dust into jar. Now there are two ways to do this and one is just take a spoon full out and blow it at your plants and cover soil or you can take a spray bottle and mix your cedar dust and spary them down. Sprayer gets cloged sometimes. This is a PREVENTIVE measure. I've never had to do at flowering. Hope this helps!

I watered today, saw MAYBE one, it might have just been a weird reflection though...

Like I said before going to re-spray a week after initial spraying to finish them off
 
I've always had the same problem but my plants were always fine. Usually those bugs always came WITH my bags of soil. they never went away but also did no harm. I think they're the same bugs i have. Are they basically miroscopic? and do they sorta "jump" around like extreamly small grasshoppers? The ones i have are so small you have to zone-out and see them all moving acroos the surface of the soil almost impossible too see?

I believe THOSE are springtails, as pictured above. They are good for your soil apparently, and they jump (hence spring tail) around.. Mine didnt jump they just burrowed... I'm now noticing some of the damage I think, it looks like some stems were strangled, they are thick near the stalk, but just thin out towards the leaf and the leafs affected are basically dead. Hoping they are doing better, my soil still smells slightly like sulfur.
