I am wondering if anyone has the ratio of lemon jiuce to 1 gallon of water to lower ph in soil 1 point. so from a 7.5 ph soil test to a 6.5 ph soil test...

would it be better to use coffee grounds.

how much coffee to drop soil 1 point ph...

There is no base line for your question. Reason being that there a multi reasons (temp, elements in water) that can effect the pH outcome. You need to add a teaspoon per gallon, then get a pH reading, then adjust again as needed until you acheive your desired results. Best to buy pH up and down. Home Depot sells a kit for 20 bucks that comes with a pH tester and up and down.

There is a shit load of science that goes into trying to calculate this out, and you have to have alot of known variables to do it right.

Here is an idea. pH of neem oil is 6.5, you could add a table spoon per gallon when watering and this should give you a balanced water. Keep watering with this solution and the pH of your soil should gradualy go down.

i know people worry about the ph while growing in soil ,

but iv never not one time checked or gave the ph a 2nd thought when i grow in soil !

im not saying for you not to worry about it

im just saying that imo the ph is not as big as an issue when growing in soil compared to hydro !

goten, I am absolutely with you. I bought a pH meter once when I was in the UK (can´t even buy them here) shoved it in my soil - the needle didn´t even move, so was it broken or what? Threw it in a corner, never bothered to try to read pH since. I don´t care and neither do my plants.

But lots of people who can´t get an ounce a plant warn me about NOOT lockout or some such rubbish.

you still need good ph in soil

its just not a big deal to me !

like the Potassium can be effected from the ph i believe ( not 100% sure though )

like i said i never worried about my soil ph before

but thats just me

i know alot of people think it is important and thats cool !

its just not really important to me !!!

cool guys thatnks for your response. now by changing the ph of the nute solution i water with will change the ph of the soil?? so for instance.

lets say my current soil ph is 8.0.

If i water with 6.0 ph nutes will it bring it back to 7.0 ph ???

or should I only water with ph 6.8 like you are supposed to and wait a long time for it to come down??

why not just add something to the soil to bring the soil ph down directly???

My girls just seem to grow fine on their own - maybe pH just sorts itself fine - like you, just doesn´t fuss me.

If your person who doesnt have to pH your water then you've gotten lucky. Either you use a super soil that balances it self, or by chance the pH of your water and your nutes balance each other. Thinking and planning will always be better than not planning or not thinking. I wouldnt depend on my luck. The majority of people would have pH imbalance if they didn't adjust for it.

Just pH your water in the range of 6.5 and 6.7 and the soil will take care of itself. You want to bring the pH up/down slowly or you will cause a massive shock of wild pH swing that take a plant already in trouble and outright kill it.

So if your ph is an 8 and do as your saying. water with 6.5 - 6.7 ph. any idea how long it will take to adjust??

I don't worry about the pH of my soil cause I trust Fox Farms. You can't tell me they don't fine tune their products to our "particular" needs. Now tap water from region to region is very different. I just adjust my tap water to the desired levels and don't try to think too much into it. I will be filtering the water later. You'd be surprised if you knew what was in your tap water...
