The government will never legalize marijuana, they make to much money off of it.

Even if they ever do legalize it, they will be taxed all to shit like cigarettes. Canada we pay fucking 11 bucks for a pack of smokes.

If they legalized it in canada, they would lose money. Not to mention the restrictions of selling a legal product that supposedly causes cancer. If they keep it illegal, there's none of that.
To me it is no worse than ciggarette's, and much less harmful than alcohol. You can never OD on weed. But you can get alcohol poisoning and die. If they were ever gonna legalize it, they would have already done it.
In the USA, they can bust big time drug dealers, seize their assets (boats, cars, houses) and auction them off. Im not sure about Canada on that, but thats where a lot of the drug money is made by the government. :leaf:

It'll have legalization in terms of medical use, but there is no way anyone in the USA is going to see pot legal for recreational use

I once heard that a major issue preventing the legalization in the U.S. is the easy growing procedure that goes along with the product. That is, because it is so easy to grow people could produce their own MJ and the government would have a hard time taxing the stuff.

it's all about the money - if the government can make millions off of poisoning people with tobacco, they'll figure a way to make it work.

Weed is not exactly something the religious conservatives would be in favor of so you'll see a ton of opposition there.

They'll not legalise it until they can make it socially acceptable and then earn a bundle from it.

Alcohol is my pet hate. It causes so much damage yet is still seen as acceptable.

I dont think marijuana will be legalised until governments worldwide can find a way of taxing users / suppliers, and making big money off them

In the past Alcohol was illegal but that all changed when governments found a way to keep tight control of supply, and raise money from taxes.

Until it is legalised in the "western world"

And i dont think its ever gonna be legal.

The gov't would make more money off it being legal. Yes you can grow your own, but you can grow your own tobacco and make wine too and those two markets aren't suffering.

If it was legal you would see some extra fine, one-hit wonder stuff on the market to the extent that no one would bother to grow. Although taxes would be in the tobacco range, overall pricing would be competitive and the stuff would have no seeds.

It must cost the law something to confiscate and store properties stolen from 'drug dealers' (look at the 'reserve' amount on the auctions).

Remember, two of the leading US cigarette mfgrs. trademarked two regularly used and well known "brand names" for weed back in the 70s. They obviously thought at the time something might happen, and they're a lot closer to the 'heat' than we are (not to be punny).

in canada you can smoke weed legally in certain areas on Queens Street and other places, but you cant leave the place until your done smoking, you can buy bongs, blunt wraps, pipes and all sorts of shit, i went there when i was in vacation on friday, and got stoned while my aunt and my sister were shopping at gay little vintage shops.. without them knowing

i agree with summerrose, The gov't would have more to gain than they would to lose.

All the court costs, special programs they have set up for busting grow ops. i think the main reason Canada at least isn't legalizing or decriminalizing is because of the pressure from across the border.

Arguments that MJ would become more readily accessible for americans are what prevent us up here from enjoying bud without fear of facing charges or fines, though I'll be the first to admit it isn't near as bad up here as down there.

Some cities I know have a very relaxed stance on this issue such as Vancouver, Like Troglart mentionned you could prolly smoke a joint in mid day in Toronto and not be bothered :blsmoke:

I have been arrested for public intoxication :cuss: (wrongfully so I might add in defence of my character, they thought i was drunk.) and had a bag of shake for a bowl or two. I was not charged but faced hefty 250.00$ fine. Way better than a charge.

Still, legalization has such a good ring to it though! :bigjoint:

This is the single major reason why it will not become legal soon. Pharmaceutical companies’ stock would plummet it marijuana became legal. Along with marijuana, the government and Big Pharma are constantly fighting all of the millions of other natural cures and herbs out there.

Even if they ever do legalize it, they will be taxed all to shit like cigarettes. Canada we pay fucking 11 bucks for a pack of smokes.
I wouldn’t mind paying $11 for a pack of joints. :)

:leaf: I dont think weed should be legalized because i think we'd run out n shit or something like that would happen! :leaf:
Nope.. wouldn’t happen. Plants keep growing ya know?

The gov't would make more money off it being legal. ).
Nope, it’s too cheap to make money off of. It being illegal is making billions of more dollars circle around and come right back into the hand of the government. Everything from court costs to jail costs to paper costs are higher than they ever would be if marijuana was legal. And guess who pays for the costs? Us, and our taxes.

Remember, two of the leading US cigarette mfgrs. trademarked two regularly used and well known "brand names" for weed back in the 70s. They obviously thought at the time something might happen, and they're a lot closer to the 'heat' than we are (not to be punny).
If cigarette companies ever poised marijuana as they have tobacco I would grow my own, and never buy it from them.

What if there is a cure for every sickness known to man in the hemp oil and the only practical way to make it would be to grow your own because it takes a pound of good bud to make a month supply(1oz). THC kills cancer cells. not saying this is true but its eally interesting and hasn't been proven wrong so far as i know. watch rick simpsons "RUN FROM THE CURE" on youtube if you have any interest in this. take pharmaceutical companies for example, how many commercials do you see that are for drugs; enlarged prostate, depression, arthritis, are you fat, do you wake up tired in the morning? think about it it's fucking rediculous, they must make a shitload of money and have some power in government, so who wants a cure you can grow in your backyard? not them
