Legalize...Then What

ok so they legalize it...well what about jobs/careers where u r subject to drug testing. would it be the same as random breathalyzers. im a truck driver and its risky to be burnin trees cuz u get in an accident...they gonna drug test...change companies...they gonna drug test. im bout to quit driving so i can be free again

Good question.

It will treated just like alcohol is today. It is legal to do, but the business has a right to make sure you are not drunk on the job.

If an employee is suspected of being intoxicated on the job they will be tested. Pissing one hour after smoking registers much higher than pissing the day after. Toxicity standards and measures will be will be set to determine a reasonable time-frame since toking.

perhaps we can find a way of telling if someone is stoned at an exact time and not just that they have been exposed to pot within 30 days or whatever.. do jobs screen for alcohol consumption within 60 days? my point is that you shouldn't be blamed for consuming pot safely, however, just like booze, you really should not be stoned to the point of impairment while driving.. it simply isn't safe for everyone involved...

Urine testing is not pass/fail, it only seems that way. There is a spectrum. If the testees (hehe! testes) levels do not meet a minimum threshold it is a pass. If the level reaches or surpasses that threshold, it is a fail.

What I'm saying is that the threshold will be raised to accommodate re-legalization.

The new standards will apply to truckers, too. Truckers are not prohibited from drinking on their time. They just can't be drunk on the job.

Yes, with legalization comes responsibility. I would only hope that every American uphold such.
I would hope you wouldn't smoke while driving or doing any drug while driving for that matter. Especially if you are driving a truck (I assume you mean a diesel).

I only hope because I want to be able to trust you while I am on the road as well. I know - some people think they can drive on it, but it can impair judgment.

As for jobs, that depends on the job. If you work in as an air traffic controller, pot is a BAD idea. I see government jobs being staunch on that as well. I don't see that being implemented in white collar (office jobs, etc.) or the low end blue collar jobs (factories, mechanics, etc.).

I think all I ask is that you don't do it during work especially if you work in anything on transportation

If legalized then it would be treated like alcohol or tobacco. What you did at home would be your business now if you went to work high I'm sure it would be treated like going to work drunk. Thats about it. I'm sure some employers won't want tolkers on staff, but thats their prerogative.
